Technologist performs Magnetic Resonance Imaging under the direction of the Chief/ Lead Technologist, Technical Director and/ or Radiologist. May perform other job related duties as necessary for the efficient operation of SDMI.
MINIMUM SKILLS, ABILITY AND REQUIREMENTS:· The Technologist must be specially trained in M.R.I. and have a good understanding of cross-sectional anatomy. Prior experiences in C.T. or X-ray is helpful.
• A.R.R.T./ ARMRIT required with MRI certification within 12 months.
• Must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patient.
• Thorough knowledge of basic principles of Magnetic Resonance.
• Understand the contraindication of MRI such as pacemakers, aneurysm clips, etc.
• Thorough knowledge of basic skills in MRI equipment, positioning and image slice thickness (protocols) for all MRI exams.
• Thorough knowledge of MRI safety and hazards.
• Thorough knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy.
• Thorough knowledge of plane and solid geometry.

• Understanding of RIS and PACS
• Demonstrate knowledge and compliance of patient rights including the patient confidentiality.
• Submit documentation of required current licensure and/or certification in a timely manner.
• Required to handle disinfectant solutions in order to maintain a clean and safe environment for proper patient care. Required to know the hazards involved in using all Caustic Solutions related to their job duties. Should know where all Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) are located and how to use them properly.
• Know how to correctly review and fill out consent forms. Know importance of inquiring about patient allergies.
• Knows signs/symptoms and protocol for contrast reactions.
• Know types of contrast to use for patients that do no meet normal criteria.
• Know how to adjust window to get a diagnostic image.
• Know how to emotionally support and explain procedure to patients.
• Know fire and evacuation plans for the modality including the location of the closest fire alarms and fire extinguishers.
• Know about electrical safety.
• Comply with universal precaution standards.
