This is a high-impact capital projects role within a large-scale industrial environment focused on manufacturing and distribution operations across North America.
The position is responsible for developing advanced Class 3 and Class 4 cost estimates that directly inform major investment and expansion decisions.
You will act as the primary estimating expert within the organization, shaping tools, standards, and methodologies from the ground up.
The role requires close collaboration with engineering, operations, supply chain, and project teams to translate technical scope into reliable financial projections.
You will contribute to complex facility expansion and improvement initiatives that influence long-term operational efficiency and growth.
Frequent engagement with leadership ensures your estimates drive strategic decision-making at the highest levels.
This position also includes periodic travel to industrial sites to validate scope, conditions, and project assumptions firsthand.
- Develop Class 3 and Class 4 capital cost estimates for industrial, manufacturing, warehouse, and facility expansion projects, ensuring accuracy and alignment with project scope and objectives.
- Perform detailed quantity take-offs and multi-discipline cost breakdowns covering civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, and equipment elements.
- Establish, refine, and maintain estimating methodologies, tools, and standards to support consistent and scalable cost estimation practices across the organization.
- Review engineering drawings, specifications, scopes of work, and contractor/vendor proposals to validate completeness and accuracy.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including engineering, operations, procurement, and project management to define scope and support project planning.
- Research and validate market pricing, labor rates, and equipment costs to ensure estimates remain current, competitive, and defensible.
- Present cost estimates and financial insights to leadership and stakeholders in a clear, structured, and decision-ready format.
- Conduct site visits (~30% travel) to manufacturing and distribution facilities to support project scoping and validation activities.
- 10+ years of combined experience in engineering, construction, estimating, pre-construction, or capital project environments, with estimating as a core professional function.
- Proven experience producing Class 3 and Class 4 estimates for large-scale industrial or manufacturing projects, including projects exceeding $20M in value.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (any discipline) or Construction Management required.
- Strong proficiency with estimating tools such as ProEst, Procore, RSMeans, or comparable platforms, along with advanced Microsoft Office skills (especially Excel).
- Experience working with AutoCAD and interpreting technical drawings, specifications, and bid documentation.
- Background in developing scopes of work and reviewing contractor/vendor bids for accuracy and compliance.
- Demonstrated ability to coordinate across multidisciplinary teams and support project execution activities.
- Strong preference for candidates with experience in industrial, chemical, or large-scale manufacturing environments, ideally within contractor or engineering consultancy settings.
- Familiarity with capital project lifecycles including pre-construction, design, and construction phases is highly valued.
- Professional certifications such as ASPE are considered a plus but not required.

- Competitive salary range: $119,000 – $154,000 depending on experience
