Our Product Quality Engineer (PQE) is responsible for ensuring product quality, reliability, and manufacturability throughout the product development lifecycle for commercial electronic products. This role partners closely with hardware, manufacturing, supply chain, and sourcing teams to drive robust designs, effective validation, and high-yield production. The PQE focuses on proactive quality planning, risk reduction, and continuous improvement from concept through production and sustaining phases.
What You will Do:
- Define product quality requirements (component, subsystem, system-level) aligned with customer and engineering specifications
- Partner with hardware engineering on Design for Manufacturing (DFM), Design for Assembly (DFA), and Design for Test (DFT)
- Lead and facilitate DFMEA / risk assessments to proactively identify and mitigate product risks
- Review and approve PCB, component, and assembly designs for quality, reliability, and manufacturability
- Develop control plans, inspection criteria, and sampling strategies for suppliers and production
- Establish in-process and end-of-line test requirements
- Review supplier quality deliverables (PFMEA, Control Plans, PPAP)
- Support supplier qualification, change management, and supplier development initiatives
- Lead root cause analysis and corrective actions (8D, 5-Why, Ishikawa) for product and supplier issues
- Perform and support failure analysis of components, PCBs, and assemblies
- Drive continuous improvement (Lean, Six Sigma, DMAIC) to reduce cost of poor quality (COPQ)
- Support NPI builds, pilot runs, and production ramp to improve yield and readiness
- Participate in engineering change management (ECN/ECO) processes
- Monitor and report on supplier quality performance and scorecards
What You Bring:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Manufacturing, or Quality Engineering (or equivalent experience)
- 5+ years of experience in Product Quality, Manufacturing Quality, or NPI within electronics
- Strong knowledge of:
- Electronic components
- PCB assemblies
- Electromechanical systems
- Experience with:
- DFMEA / PFMEA / Risk Management
- Supplier Quality & Supplier Qualification
- Validation & Reliability Testing
- Expertise in problem-solving methodologies (8D, 5-Why, SPC, Fishbone/Ishikawa)
- Experience with process improvement tools (DMAIC, Lean Six Sigma, Red X)
- Hands-on experience with electronic test equipment (multimeter, oscilloscope, spectrum analyzer, etc.)
- Strong cross-functional collaboration and communication skills
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Lean Six Sigma certification (ASQ, SSGI, or equivalent)
- Experience with:
- APQP (Advanced Product Quality Planning)
- IPC standards, ISO 9001, quality systems
- PCB fabrication and SMT manufacturing processes
- Familiarity with regulatory standards (UL, FCC, CE)
- Experience with embedded systems, wireless, or camera-based electronics
- Knowledge of reliability testing (HALT, HASS, thermal cycling, vibration)

Salary Range: $75,000. - 85,000. This is the expected salary range for this position. Ultimately, in determining pay, we'll consider the successful candidate’s location, experience, and other job-related factors.
