The Principal Software Engineer will lead the design, development, and continuous improvement of browser extension technology, ensuring high levels of security, performance, and reliability across diverse environments. This role requires strong technical ownership, collaboration, and the ability to solve complex engineering problems.
- Design, build, and maintain scalable browser extensions for Chrome, Edge, and other major browsers using Manifest V3 and modern browser APIs.
- Develop secure features that interact with web applications, browser environments, and backend services while following strong security practices.
- Optimize extension performance, reliability, and user experience across different devices, browsers, and workflows.
- Collaborate closely with endpoint agent and backend engineering teams to ensure seamless integration across the entire platform.
- Stay current with browser ecosystem changes, evolving APIs, security standards, and emerging web technologies.
- Participate actively in architecture discussions, code reviews, testing, and engineering process improvements.
- Develop solutions that safely handle sensitive data and protect against security risks associated with web content interactions.
- Contribute technical leadership by sharing knowledge, improving engineering practices, and helping teams deliver high-quality software.
- Partner with product, design, and engineering stakeholders to translate complex requirements into effective technical solutions.
The ideal candidate is an experienced software engineer with deep expertise in browser technologies, modern web development, and secure application design. They should be comfortable working on complex systems, collaborating across teams, and taking ownership of critical technical initiatives.
- 5+ years of software engineering experience, including at least 3 years focused on browser extension development.
- Strong proficiency in JavaScript, TypeScript, HTML, CSS, and modern web development technologies.
- Deep understanding of browser extension APIs, including Chrome Extensions, Manifest V3, and browser security considerations.
- Experience building secure applications that interact with web content and handle untrusted data.
- Strong knowledge of secure coding practices and software engineering best practices.
- Ability to design, implement, test, and maintain reliable production systems.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to navigate complex technical challenges.
- Strong communication skills and experience collaborating with cross-functional teams including product, design, and backend engineering.
- Ability to work effectively in a remote, distributed environment.
Preferred qualifications:
