The Pharmacy Operations Support-1 is responsible for managing specialty pharmacy support activities while ensuring operational excellence, compliance, and high-quality service delivery. The role involves coordinating teams, monitoring performance, improving workflows, and maintaining strong collaboration across healthcare stakeholders.
- Lead daily specialty pharmacy operations, including intake processes, benefits investigations, prior authorization follow-ups, financial assistance coordination, and refill or order management.
- Assign tasks, provide coaching and support to team members, monitor performance, and reinforce operational policies and procedures.
- Track key performance indicators such as turnaround times, claim success rates, call handling efficiency, dispensing accuracy, shipment timelines, and inventory accuracy.
- Identify operational challenges, remove workflow barriers, and escalate complex issues or cross-functional decisions when required.
- Coordinate with pharmacists, prescribers, payers, distribution teams, and customer service groups to ensure compliant and timely fulfillment.
- Maintain standard operating procedures, quality controls, and documentation practices to support accreditation, privacy, safety, and regulatory requirements.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives by updating training materials, improving processes, and validating operational enhancements.
- Oversee specialty inventory management, including reconciliation of temperature-sensitive and controlled products, cycle counts, and discrepancy resolution.
The ideal candidate brings experience in pharmacy operations, healthcare services, or related environments, with strong organizational skills and the ability to lead teams while maintaining high operational standards.
- Bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration, pharmacy operations, business, or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in pharmacy operations, specialty pharmacy, healthcare services, or a related field.
- Previous experience supervising teams or managing operational activities is preferred.
- Knowledge of pharmacy workflows, healthcare compliance standards, and quality management practices.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with experience monitoring KPIs and improving processes.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with internal teams and external healthcare partners.
- Ability to manage priorities in a fast-paced environment while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
- Professional project management certification, pharmacy technician registration, pharmacist licensure, or equivalent credentials are considered an asset.
- Competitive salary range of approximately CAD $55,002 to CAD $109,901.
