Role: Inside Sales Representative

FLSA: Full-Time | Hourly | Non-Exempt

We are seeking a motivated, results-driven Inside Sales Representative to join our growing team. This position is responsible for managing customer relationships and sales opportunities from the initial inquiry through contract completion. The Inside Sales Representative will work closely with prospective and established customers to understand project requirements, review construction documents and blueprints, develop quotes, finalize contracts, and ensure a positive customer experience throughout the sales process.

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of residential construction and home building, excellent communication and relationship-building skills, and the ability to understand technical project information and translate it into accurate sales solutions.

This position requires a highly organized, customer-focused, and proactive individual who is comfortable managing multiple opportunities, conducting lead follow-up, developing new business, maintaining established customer relationships, and taking ownership of the sales process from beginning to end.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Sales & Business Development

  • Manage the sales process from initial customer inquiry through quoting, contract execution, and transition to the appropriate internal teams.
  • Respond promptly and professionally to inbound inquiries and prospective customer requests.
  • Conduct outbound calls and proactive follow-up with prospective customers to develop new business opportunities.
  • Maintain consistent follow-up with leads to move qualified opportunities through the sales process.
  • Develop new customer relationships while maintaining and strengthening relationships with established customers.
  • Identify opportunities to generate additional business from existing customers and accounts.
  • Develop a strong understanding of customer needs, project requirements, timelines, budgets, and expectations.
  • Present company products and services in a professional and knowledgeable manner.
  • Effectively communicate product benefits, capabilities, pricing, and value to customers.
  • Address customer questions, concerns, and objections and provide appropriate solutions.
  • Negotiate and close sales while ensuring all commitments and project information are accurate.
  • Finalize contracts and related sales documentation in accordance with company procedures.
  • Maintain accurate and timely records of leads, opportunities, customer interactions, quotes, contracts, and sales activity.

Construction & Project Review

  • Review blueprints, plans, specifications, and other project documentation to understand customer requirements and identify relevant project details.
  • Interpret construction drawings and technical information sufficiently to develop accurate quotes and communicate project requirements.
  • Gather all necessary project information from customers to ensure quotes and contracts accurately reflect the scope of work.
  • Identify missing, inconsistent, or potentially problematic information within project documentation and communicate issues to the appropriate parties.
  • Work closely with customers to clarify project specifications, dimensions, materials, timelines, and other requirements.
  • Coordinate with internal departments to ensure information obtained during the sales process is accurately communicated and understood.

Quoting & Contracts

  • Prepare accurate and timely quotes, estimates, proposals, and related sales documentation.
  • Review pricing and project requirements to ensure quotes accurately reflect the customer's needs and applicable company pricing.
  • Explain quotes and pricing to customers and answer questions regarding products, services, and project requirements.
  • Make appropriate revisions to quotes based on changes in customer requirements or project scope.
  • Finalize contracts and obtain required customer approvals and documentation.
  • Ensure contracts accurately reflect agreed-upon pricing, products, services, specifications, and other applicable terms.
  • Maintain organized records of quotes, contracts, revisions, and related customer documentation.

Customer Service & Relationship Management

  • Serve as a primary point of contact for customers throughout the sales process.
  • Provide timely, professional, and responsive customer service.
  • Maintain regular communication with customers and provide updates regarding the status of their projects or orders.
  • Build long-term relationships with established customers and actively work to increase customer retention and repeat business.
  • Address customer concerns promptly and professionally, escalating issues when appropriate.
  • Set realistic expectations and ensure customer commitments are clearly communicated and achievable.
  • Follow up with customers after the sale to support a positive customer experience and identify future business opportunities.

Sales Administration & Performance

  • Utilize company systems, CRM tools, and other resources to track leads, customer interactions, quotes, contracts, and sales opportunities.
  • Maintain accurate customer and sales records.
  • Utilize company metrics to monitor lead activity, follow-up, conversion rates, sales performance, and other key performance indicators.
  • Meet established sales, activity, customer service, and follow-up expectations.
  • Prioritize and manage multiple leads, quotes, projects, and customer relationships simultaneously.
  • Maintain a high level of responsiveness and follow-through.
  • Stay knowledgeable regarding company products, services, pricing, construction practices, and industry trends.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Previous experience in inside sales, construction sales, building materials, customer service, or a related field preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of residential construction, home building, building materials, or construction processes strongly preferred.
  • Experience reviewing blueprints, construction plans, specifications, or similar technical documentation preferred.
  • Experience preparing quotes, estimates, proposals, or contracts preferred.
  • Experience working with homeowners, contractors, builders, developers, or other construction-related customers highly desirable.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop new customer relationships while maintaining existing accounts.
  • Strong sales, negotiation, and closing skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong customer service and relationship-management skills.
  • Ability to understand technical information and explain it clearly to customers who may have varying levels of construction knowledge.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
