Job Description

We are looking for an experienced Probate or Trust Administration Paralegal to join our Estate Planning Team. This team member will assist the attorneys and trustees with managing and settling a trust after someone passes away.

Compensation:

$25 - $32 hourly


Responsibilities:
  • ASSET MANAGEMENT: Identify, gather, inventory, and help the trustee value the assets held within the trust.

  • DOCUMENT REVIEW: Read and interpret the trust agreement and wills alongside the attorney to ensure the proper execution of the grantor's wishes.

  • FINANCIAL ACCOUNTING ASSISTANCE: Assist with preparing trust accountings, track income, expenses, and distributions.

  • TAX PREPARATION COORDINATION: Coordinate Tax Preparation with the accountant.

  • TRUSTEE COMMUNICATION: Serves as point of contact for trustees, fielding questions and coordinating with the attorney.

  • BENEFICIARY COMMUNICATION: Serves as point of contact for beneficiaries, sending required notices and managing asset distribution paperwork.

  • CALENDARING: Calendar and Coordinate Estate tasks and deadlines.

  • TRACKING: Document Estate Activities in Case Management Software.

  • REPORTING TO ATTORNEY: Communicate status updates to the Attorney.


Qualifications:
  • Experience in trust administration or probate law, ensuring smooth management and settlement of trusts.
  • Ability to interpret and apply trust agreements and wills, aligning with the grantor's intentions.
  • Proven track record of managing asset inventories and valuations within a trust context.
  • Strong skills in financial accounting, including tracking income, expenses, and distributions.
  • Experience coordinating tax preparation activities with accountants, ensuring compliance and accuracy.
  • Excellent communication skills to serve as a liaison between trustees, beneficiaries, and attorneys.
  • Proficiency in using case management software for documenting estate activities and tracking deadlines efficiently.
