Senior Database Administrator

This role sits at the core of a mission-critical technology environment, ensuring the reliability, performance, and scalability of large-scale database systems that support high-volume, real-time information delivery. You will operate within a highly collaborative engineering and operations ecosystem, contributing to a major digital transformation across cloud and on-premise infrastructures. The position blends deep technical DBA expertise with strong problem-solving and cross-functional collaboration across development, architecture, and support teams. You will play a key role in defining best practices for database design, high availability, automation, and performance optimization. The environment is fast-paced and highly available, requiring strong ownership and proactive system stewardship. Accountabilities:
  • Provide advanced database administration support across production environments, ensuring high availability, performance, and reliability of critical systems.
  • Partner closely with application development teams to troubleshoot, optimize, and enhance database-driven applications.
  • Perform full DBA lifecycle responsibilities including backups, recovery, upgrades, patching, cloning, and failover testing.
  • Design, document, and maintain database architecture, including data dictionaries, data mappings, and dependency diagrams.
  • Review DDL scripts and application code to ensure efficient and optimized database usage.
  • Support database design and implementation for new applications, ensuring scalability, resiliency, and minimal downtime during migrations.
  • Diagnose and resolve complex issues across database and application layers in real time.
  • Collaborate with L1/L2/L3 support teams and participate in a 24x7 on-call rotation to ensure system stability.
  • Contribute to automation and process improvement initiatives for database management and deployment workflows.
Requirements:
  • 10+ years of hands-on Oracle database administration experience in mission-critical, 24x7 environments.
  • Strong experience in full database lifecycle management, including upgrades, patching, backups, recovery, and cloning.
  • Software development experience with languages such as Java, Python, TypeScript, Go, Node, or similar.
  • Solid understanding of Unix/Linux operating systems and enterprise infrastructure environments.
  • Experience designing and maintaining enterprise data dictionaries and supporting ETL processes.
  • Strong ability to analyze and optimize SQL queries for performance and efficiency.
  • Familiarity with database design concepts including ER diagrams, data modeling, and data warehousing.
  • Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments with exposure to ITIL practices.
  • Strong troubleshooting, communication, and collaboration skills in cross-functional technical teams.
  • Ability to work independently in high-pressure, production-critical environments.
