The Job

Burial Beer Co. is seeking a hardworking, creative and driven Brewer to fill a position at our brewery. As an integral player in the team, brewers are responsible for producing consistent and quality products, as well as participating in recipe development and collaboration, while maintaining a clean and safe work environment.

A successful candidate for this role will have at least one year experience of hot side brewing, and a clear understanding of fermentation science. This position is best suited for someone who is passionate about beer, team-oriented on the floor, and thrives when given a challenge in a fast-paced environment.

What You’ll Do

The below job responsibilities may not constitute a complete and exclusive list and are subject to change.

  • Adhere to all Standard Operating Procedures
  • Assist in inventory management and organization
  • Facilitate in producing consistent and quality driven products.
  • Maintain detailed records of all brewing data throughout shifts.
  • Manage all brewhouse operations on 15 or 20 BBL system, including, but not limited to, wort management and production, milling, CIPs, gravity readings and adjustments, yeast management and propagation, and spent grain management
  • Assisting cellar operations when necessary, including but not limited to, CIPs/SIPs, operating centrifuge, harvesting, dry-hopping, and adjuncting.
  • Assist with the clean barrel and mixed culture program as needed.
  • Participate in recipe development, adjustments and amendments, as needed and within the scope of the Burial brand.
  • Participate in QA/QC sensory program by providing honest and detailed feedback, reporting any off-flavors or quality concerns.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment
  • Use BeerSmith to adjust, log and manage recipes
  • Operate Forklift/picker
  • Open/Close brewery
  • Accept deliveries and take inventory
  • General Facility Maintenance (chiller, boiler, air compressor, etc.)
  • Updating our software Ekos, routinely and regularly to keep consistent and accurate data on beer
  • Maintain open, respectful, and productive communication with teammates and management.
Requirements:

Who We’re Looking For

  • At least 1 year hot side brewing experience.
  • Centrifuge experience a plus, but not required
  • Forklift certification is a plus, but not required
  • Ability to troubleshoot and problem solve
  • Able to maintain professionalism and flexibility when encountering unexpected changes or challenges in the workplace
  • Clear understanding of fermentation science and brewery operations and expectations
  • Able to ask for help and communicate mistakes or errors as they occur
  • Must be flexible and willing to work and adapt to schedule changes

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to lift 50lbs.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and loud environment in varying temperatures
  • Able to be on feet for long periods of time, sometimes 8+ hours per day
