Job Description
In anticipation of our Newly Built State-of-the-Art Hospital, the CLH organization is accepting RNs who are interested in becoming a member of the CLH Healthcare Team!
Prerequisites for the position include:
- Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing
- Current FL or Multi State RN license in good standing
- Current BLS, PALS and ACLS (AHA or ASHI)
- Good communication and listening skills
- Demonstrate competencies in appropriate areas
The RN will manage defined areas of organized patient care services delivering nursing care. Actively participate in departmental leadership functions and collaborations with other nursing and medical staff in designing and providing patient care and services. Be knowledgeable of current theoretical approaches to the delivery of nursing care; participates in developing and implementing organizational strategies to improve the delivery of care. The RN will have excellent leadership, communication and interpersonal skills. Allocate available resources to promote safe, efficient, effective and compassionate nursing care. Provide direction to patient care staff to promote quality patient care, nursing services and a culture of safety on a continuous basis; be responsible for ensuring consistent nursing standards, guide the provision of nursing care. Be responsible for directing and coordinating patient care, within the defined areas of responsibility, through established standards subscribed by the American Nurses Association, and in accordance with the Florida Nurse Practice Act.
The RN will assist additional nursing and medical staff by performing routine duties in caring for patient needs. These may include, but are not limited to:
a) Assess or assure that assessments of patients biophysical, environmental, psychosocial, self-care, educational and discharge-planning factors are completed;
b) Ensure identified needs are communication to patient and/or patient advocate, and any other health-team members;
c) Implement the plan of care via direct care and/or delegation to others in accordance with established standards of care/practice;
d) Reassess and evaluate patient’s needs and responses to care and modify plan of care as needed or directed by physician/hospitalist;
e) Maintain clinical nursing skills and knowledge base;
f) Function as patient advocate by coordinating or assuring coordination of patient care activities and monitoring patient responses;
g) Treat patients with dignity and respect, ensuring their needs for privacy and confidentiality are met;
h) Respect the confidentiality of patient communications and patient records, using discretion when discussing patient information;
i) Communicate clearly and courteously to patients, their families and/or visitors;
j) Adhere to infection control policies and procedures, promoting and following universal, as well as CLH departmental precautions relative to blood, body fluids, isolation, etc.
k) Ensure that the safety of patients, i.e. determine equipment used in care is functioning properly prior to use; follow recommended guidelines for use of all patient care equipment; follow CLH organizational and departmental policies and procedures regarding use of safety devices, such as side rails and restraints and complied.
l) Process physician/hospitalist orders in a timely manner, clarifying orders as necessary and communicating adverse changes in condition promptly with specific pertinent data and documents;
m) Demonstrate responsibility for making clinical decisions, expressing clear appropriate communication (verbal, non-verbal and written);
n) Safeguard against misuse of equipment and supplies; have supplies for next shift;
o) Participate in the orientation of new personnel;
p) Assist in the development of knowledge and skills for other staff members
q) Perform other duties not specifically mentioned, as deemed necessary by CNO, Director of Patient Care Services, physicians, hospitalists and based on patient needs – within the scope of education, licensure and experience.
