Job Description
Rippling gives businesses one place to run HR, IT, and Finance. For the first time ever, you can manage and automate every part of the employee lifecycle in a single system.
Take onboarding, for example. With Rippling, you can hire a new employee anywhere in the world and set up their payroll, corporate card, computer, benefits, and even third-party apps like Slack and Microsoft 365—all within 90 seconds.
Based in San Francisco, CA, Rippling has raised $1.4B+ from the world’s top investors—including Kleiner Perkins, Founders Fund, Sequoia, Greenoaks, and Bedrock—and was named one of America's best startup employers by Forbes.
We prioritize candidate safety. Please be aware that all official communication will only be sent from @Rippling.com addresses.
About the role
Rippling is scaling at hyperspeed, and we're hiring a Director to own the financial strategy for our Customer Experience (CX) and Product Operations (ProdOps) organizations. How we deliver on the customer promise at scale directly determines retention, expansion, and long-term company value, making this one of the most consequential finance partnerships at Rippling.
You will serve as the senior finance leader and trusted advisor to the CX & ProdOps leadership, shaping how both organizations set targets, allocate capital, and measure success. This means owning the financial operating model end-to-end, including cost-to-serve, unit economics, and analytical frameworks that inform our most important investment decisions, from new service models and pricing packages to tooling bets and workforce strategy.
This is a highly visible role with direct exposure to C-Suite executives. You'll lead a high-performing team of finance professionals from high-growth tech, investment banking, private equity, and venture capital, and will partner closely with Revenue Operations, Data Science and other Strategic Finance functions. We're looking for someone who combines deep financial and analytical rigor with the executive presence to operate as a true business partner—someone energized by complexity, comfortable with ambiguity, and committed to building a great team.
Note: this is a hybrid position based in either our San Francisco or New York City office.
- Own the CX & ProdOps relationship on behalf of Finance, and serve as a trusted, strategic thought partner to the leadership of both orgs.
- Set ambitious and achievable targets for the CX & ProdOps organizations in partnership with senior leadership, translating company-level priorities into clear, measurable goals.
- Develop a greater depth of understanding around CX & ProdOps efficiency metrics, and build accurate financial forecasts that enable Rippling to operate at a public-company cadence and inform executive and Board-level decision making.
- Evaluate new strategic initiatives—such as new service models, pricing packages, product launches, and AI capabilities—through rigorous financial modeling and scenario analysis.
- Lead recurring CX & ProdOps Strategic Finance forums, including monthly business reviews, quarterly planning cycles, and materials for executive and Board audiences.
- Partner with Revenue Operations and Data & Analytics to develop dashboards that track performance against plan and surface actionable insights for senior leaders
- Build, lead, and develop a high-performing team of finance professionals, setting a high bar for analytical rigor, ownership, and impact while coaching future leaders.
What you will need
- 10+ years of experience in strategic finance, FP&A, investment banking, or private equity, with meaningful time spent at a high-growth technology company.
- Expert-level financial modeling and analytical skills, with a demonstrated track record of owning complex operating and headcount models.
- Deep understanding of SaaS customer economics—including NRR, GRR, churn drivers, expansion motions, and cost-to-serve.
- Direct experience supporting Implementation, Technical Account Management, Support or Product Operations organizations is strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to synthesize large, complex datasets into clear insights and actionable recommendations for senior leaders.
- Proven ability to operate at a senior level with significant independence, managing multiple large workstreams and driving outcomes through cross-functional influence rather than authority.
- Strong people leadership experience, including building and developing high-performing teams and raising the analytical bar across an organization
- Excellent communication and executive presence, with the ability to present clearly and credibly to C-suite and Board-level audiences.
- Experience in a public company or public-company–ready environment is a plus
- Experience with financial planning tools (e.g. Anaplan), Salesforce and SQL are a plus.
