This Senior Editor role sits at the heart of a fast-moving NFL newsroom, shaping how daily and long-form football coverage is planned, produced, and published.
You will lead editorial direction for a team of reporters, ensuring high-impact storytelling across breaking news, analysis, and multimedia formats.
The role blends hands-on editing with strategic planning, helping define the long-term vision for NFL coverage.
You will use audience insights, SEO principles, and performance data to refine content strategy and maximize engagement.
Collaboration is central, working closely with visuals, audience, and business teams to elevate storytelling quality and reach.
This is a highly dynamic environment where editorial judgment, speed, and creativity directly influence subscriber experience and growth.

Accountabilities:
  • Oversee and manage a team of NFL reporters, guiding daily coverage, breaking news output, and in-depth analysis while ensuring editorial quality and consistency.
  • Plan and coordinate story assignments across formats including articles, live blogs, video projects, and long-form features, balancing short-term news with long-term editorial initiatives.
  • Drive the editorial vision for NFL coverage by generating story ideas, identifying expansion opportunities, and shaping a distinctive and engaging voice across platforms.
  • Edit, publish, and optimize content using digital publishing tools while ensuring alignment with audience engagement metrics, SEO best practices, and subscription goals.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including visuals, audience development, and business stakeholders to maximize storytelling impact and distribution efficiency.
Requirements:
  • 4+ years of professional experience in sports journalism with demonstrated experience in editorial leadership or direct management of writers.
  • Strong, in-depth knowledge of the NFL and the ability to produce insightful, accurate, and compelling football coverage.
  • Proven ability to manage fast-paced editorial workflows, including breaking news environments, tight deadlines, and multi-platform publishing.
  • Familiarity with digital publishing systems, SEO best practices, and performance analytics tools used to optimize content engagement.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills with the ability to guide teams and coordinate across multiple departments.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours including nights, weekends, and holidays as required in a 24/7 sports news environment.
  • Remote-based role open to candidates in the United States or Canada.
