Job Description
Job Title: Human Resources Generalist
Location: New York, NY (Hybrid)
Status: Full-Time
Reports to: Director of Human Resources
Global Kids (GK) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to educating, inspiring, and mobilizing youth to become global citizens who are positively engaged in the world and prepared for their future. GK serves thousands of young people annually through school-based and community programs across New York City.
Position Summary: The Human Resources Generalist plays a key role in supporting the full employee lifecycle at Global Kids. This position will manage a broad range of HR functions, including recruitment, onboarding, compliance, and understanding of the ADP workforce system. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, collaborative, and passionate about supporting a mission-driven workforce.
Key Responsibilities
Recruitment & Hiring
- Coordinate full-cycle recruitment for program and administrative roles
- Post positions, screen candidates, schedule interviews, and support hiring managers
- Partner with program leadership to support seasonal and high-volume hiring needs
- Maintain and track applicant data in ADP Workforce Now or applicable systems
Onboarding & Offboarding
- Facilitate onboarding processes, including new hire paperwork, orientations, and system setup
- Ensure a positive and compliant onboarding experience for all staff
- Manage offboarding processes, including exit interviews and documentation
Compliance & HR Administration
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and organizational policies
- Maintain accurate employee records and documentation
- Support audits, reporting, and required filings
HR Systems & Data Management
- Maintain and update employee data within HRIS (ADP Workforce Now preferred)
- Generate reports and support workforce planning and HR analytics
- Identify opportunities to improve HR systems and processes
Training & Development
- Support staff training initiatives and professional development efforts
- Assist in implementing performance management processes
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor's degree in human resources, Business Administration, or a related field
- 2–4 years of HR experience in a generalist or similar role
- Knowledge of employment laws and HR best practices
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Proficiency with HR systems (ADP Workforce Now strongly preferred)
Preferred
- Experience in nonprofit or youth development organizations
Compensation & Benefits
This full-time exempt position has an annual salary of $54,000. GK also offers affordable medical benefits, dental, and life insurance, as well as paid holidays, 12 vacation days (year 1), increasing thereafter based on years of employment, 3 personal days, and 8 sick days. Additionally, the GK offices are closed between Christmas and New Year’s Day. GK staff also have access to retail discounts and other benefits through our Professional Employer Organization (PEO).
