The Senior EDA Tools Software Engineer will be responsible for architecting and developing automation frameworks that accelerate semiconductor design processes. The role requires strong technical leadership, cross-functional collaboration, and ownership of scalable software solutions that improve engineering productivity and quality.
- Architect, design, and implement scalable EDA automation tools supporting multiple SoC development programs.
- Translate architectural requirements and design specifications into automated generation flows for RTL, register definitions, verification collateral, timing data, and integration artifacts.
- Develop configurable frameworks for topology generation, parameter management, schema-driven design, and automated collateral creation.
- Build reliable validation mechanisms by integrating automation flows with frontend and backend semiconductor design tools.
- Enable Power, Performance, and Area (PPA) optimization through automation and analysis capabilities.
- Collaborate with architecture, RTL, verification, and SoC integration teams to ensure generated outputs meet technical requirements.
- Drive projects from concept definition through development, deployment, maintenance, and continuous improvement.
- Participate in technical reviews and incorporate stakeholder feedback to enhance tool capabilities and usability.
- Manage competing priorities while delivering high-quality solutions within project timelines.
- Mentor junior engineers and promote best practices in software development, testing, and maintainability.
- Contribute to broader engineering initiatives and help improve development methodologies across teams.
The ideal candidate is an experienced software engineer with a strong background in EDA tooling, semiconductor development, and automation frameworks. You should combine strong programming skills with knowledge of digital design concepts and the ability to work effectively across technical teams.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
- 9+ years of experience in CAD/EDA tooling, design automation, semiconductor development, or related engineering domains.
- Strong proficiency in Python or similar programming languages, with experience building scalable software frameworks rather than simple scripts.
- Solid understanding of digital SoC design concepts, RTL hierarchy, synthesis workflows, and parameterized IP design.
- Experience creating and validating structured schemas using formats such as JSON or YAML.
- Working knowledge of SystemVerilog and ability to understand generated hardware design outputs.
- Experience with templating systems, code generation frameworks, or automation methodologies.
- Strong software engineering fundamentals including Git, code reviews, testing practices, and CI/CD workflows.
- Familiarity with EDA tools and semiconductor design flows.
- Knowledge of Network-on-Chip (NoC) architectures or interconnect protocols such as AXI, CHI, PCIe, or UCIe is a plus.
- Understanding of IP packaging, configuration, and integration methodologies such as IP-XACT is beneficial.
- Experience with graph algorithms, topology modeling, or connectivity optimization is preferred.
- Ability to interpret complex architecture specifications and convert them into robust software implementations.
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, organizational, and collaboration skills.
- Experience mentoring engineers and driving technical initiatives is highly valued.
