The Technical Operations Support Specialist I - Reports will provide high-quality technical assistance to clients and internal stakeholders by troubleshooting application issues, supporting reporting functionality, and ensuring effective resolution of technical challenges. This role requires strong analytical thinking, communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple support priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Provide technical support by diagnosing and resolving software, hardware, and application-related issues using remote support tools.
- Serve as a primary point of contact for client and internal requests through support cases, emails, and calls.
- Troubleshoot issues related to payroll transmissions, software functionality, installations, time and labor processes, reporting, security, and database-related concerns.
- Support configuration and modification requests across application features, including time off accruals, time and attendance, tax items, ACA, general ledger, reporting, custom calculations, and security settings.
- Document all client interactions, resolutions, and troubleshooting steps throughout the support lifecycle.
- Identify recurring issues, trends, and opportunities to improve product performance and support processes.
- Collaborate with internal teams to resolve complex technical problems and improve application reliability.
- Analyze and manage data using tools such as Excel, including VLOOKUP functions and pivot tables.
- Communicate technical information clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Participate in client meetings, events, and team initiatives as a representative of the support organization.
- Manage multiple communication channels and tracking systems while maintaining accurate follow-up.
- Adapt to changing business priorities, schedules, and project requirements.
- Continuously develop expertise in supported applications and contribute to knowledge sharing across the team.
The ideal candidate will have experience in technical support, customer service, payroll systems, and data analysis. This position requires strong troubleshooting abilities, attention to detail, and the ability to quickly learn new software platforms while supporting diverse users.
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- 3+ years of customer service experience, with technical support or help desk experience preferred.
- Minimum of 1 year of payroll experience.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly.
- Intermediate Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel skills including data imports, VLOOKUP, and pivot tables.
- Experience supporting PC hardware and software, including installation, maintenance, and end-user training.
- Ability to learn new technologies, applications, and internal tools quickly.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to investigate issues and identify effective solutions.
- Technical aptitude and willingness to learn database tools such as SQL and other software platforms.
- Strong mathematical skills for supporting report calculations, accruals, general ledger processes, and related functions.
- Experience testing and validating calculations, reports, and system configurations.
- Experience with Lean Six Sigma methodologies is a plus.
- Experience supporting payroll software platforms is strongly preferred.
- Basic knowledge of SQL and HTML is beneficial.
- Competitive annual salary range of $41,600–$64,000, based on knowledge, skills, experience, and market factors.
