- Install, configure, program, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair land mobile radio (LMR) systems and related communications equipment.
- Diagnose and resolve complex equipment, system, programming, and installation issues to ensure reliable customer communications.
- Perform preventative maintenance, inspections, firmware/software updates, and equipment upgrades to optimize system performance.
- Complete service tickets, work orders, and technical documentation accurately and within established timelines.
- Support the installation, testing, and commissioning of communications systems, including associated network, power, and infrastructure components.
- Collaborate with customers, project teams, and management to coordinate service activities, site access, and project execution.
- Assist with project planning, system design support, scoping, and estimating for service, installation, and programming projects.
- Provide technical support and communicate effectively with customers regarding system performance, maintenance, and repair needs.
- Support the development of team knowledge by sharing technical expertise and assisting with the training and mentoring of other technicians when appropriate.
- Maintain current knowledge of communications technologies, products, and industry best practices through ongoing training and professional development.
- Adhere to company safety standards, quality requirements, and established service procedures.
- Participate in an on-call rotation to provide after-hours emergency support as needed.
- 3+ years of hands-on technical field service and installation of two-way radio communications systems.
- Demonstrated experience installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing complex communications systems and equipment, with the ability to diagnose and resolve equipment, software, programming, and system performance issues independently.
- Proficiency in radio programming, configuration, testing, and diagnostic procedures.
- Working knowledge of radio frequency (RF) principles, communications systems, and wireless networking concepts.
- Ability to read and interpret technical documentation, including schematics, wiring diagrams, system drawings, and equipment manuals.
- Experience with Motorola communication technologies, including P25 and/or MOTOTRBO systems, strongly preferred.
- Ability to diagnose and resolve equipment, software, programming, and system performance issues independently.
- Strong customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with customers, vendors, and internal teams.
- Demonstrated ability to organize work, support project execution, and provide guidance to less experienced technicians when needed.
- Commitment to workplace safety and adherence to established procedures and quality standards.
- Associate degree in Electronics, Information Technology, Telecommunications, or a related technical field preferred; equivalent combination of education, certifications, military training, and relevant experience will be considered.
- Valid driver's license required.
- Ability to pass applicable background screening, drug testing, and motor vehicle record requirements.
The physical environment requires the employee to work inside and outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to frequently stand, walk, sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; talk or hear; utilize personal protective equipment to prevent exposure to potentially hazardous materials, lift (overhead, waist level) from the floor, bending, frequently utilize near vision use for reading and computer use; be able to handle semi-frequent stressful conditions (cardiovascular), frequently work in outdoor weather conditions, frequently move equipment weighing up to 50 pounds, occasionally ascend/descend a ladder, operate a motor vehicle, frequently position self to maintain computers or other equipment as needed.
On-call for critical systems maintenance may be required. First shift hours Monday–Friday, with occasional 2nd or 3rd shift and weekends depending on project schedules.
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:
Travel as necessary to support company and customer needs. Primarily supporting the West Virginia and western region of Virginia but additional travel could be assigned to provide the necessary support for projects. A company vehicle and fuel card will be provided to support business-related travel.
