Role Overview
As a Full-Time Music Therapist, you will deliver individual and group music therapy sessions within our Paoli Day Program. By integrating music therapy theory with psychodynamic and psychotherapeutic techniques, you will empower clients navigating neurological recovery. You will help them build coping skills, improve self-regulation, enhance self-esteem, foster meaningful engagement, and build social connections.
Key Responsibilities
- Direct Client Care & Assessment:
- Perform comprehensive initial evaluations to determine functional capabilities and rehabilitation needs.
- Develop, implement, and monitor objective, holistic, and culturally sensitive treatment plans aligned with client discharge goals.
- Provide minimum-to-maximum assistance during sessions to facilitate client success.
- Create group and individual activities focused on recreation, leisure, health, and skill-building.
- Interdisciplinary Collaboration & Support:
- Partner closely with the clinical team, families, and caregivers to ensure integrated care and smooth discharge planning.
- Teach team members strategies to support client treatment plans and ensure consistent execution.
- Facilitate a positive, safe, and empowering "life space" and promote client self-advocacy, growth, and quality of life.
- Qualifications & Requirements
- Education & Certification:
- Master’s degree in Music Therapy (Required).
- Board Certification in Music Therapy (Required).
- Valid driver’s license (Required).
- Experience:
- Experience working with neurologically related disorders is strongly preferred.
- Key Skills:
- Exceptional communication, time management, organizational, and clinical writing skills.
- Ability to handle difficult situations (e.g., activity/medication refusals) with empathy, patience, and de-escalation strategies.
