About the Position

Kitsap County is seeking an experienced administrative professional to serve as the Executive Assistant/Clerk of the Board, providing high-level, confidential, and technically specialized support to the Board of County Commissioners and the County Administrator. This critical role ensures legal compliance, maintains official records, and manages the full lifecycle of Board meetings and actions. The ideal candidate brings strong administrative expertise, exceptional attention to detail, and preferably direct experience supporting governing bodies such as foundations, nonprofit boards, colleges, government agencies, or similar organizations.

This position is open until filled and screened weekly.

In This Role, You Will:

  • Provide executive-level administrative and technical support to the Board of County Commissioners and County Administrator, advising on compliance with federal, state, and local laws.
  • Use independent judgment to interpret regulations, establish procedures, and manage priorities in a dynamic, high-responsibility environment.
  • Coordinate and lead workflow within your functional area, including project oversight and collaboration with supporting staff.
  • Administer all Clerk of the Board duties in alignment with applicable laws, regulations, and County policies.
  • Manage confidential projects, conduct research and analysis, and prepare official records and documentation for Board and County Administration.
  • Oversee the scheduling, preparation, and execution of Board meetings, including agenda development, legal notices, staff reports, and supporting materials.
  • Attend Board meetings, prepare formal minutes, maintain official recordings, and ensure accurate and timely filing and publication of records.
  • Draft resolutions, proclamations, notices, presentations, and formal correspondence on behalf of Commissioners and the County Administrator.
  • Organize, safeguard, and maintain records of historical or legal significance, ensuring proper retention, accessibility, and disposal in compliance with public records requirements.
  • Manage agenda files, document center items, email retrieval, and other recordkeeping necessary to support Public Records Act compliance.
  • Research and respond to public inquiries; prepare communications, notices, and materials for the Board and County Administration.
  • Provide high-level executive administrative support to Commissioners and County Administration to ensure accurate implementation of policies and operational procedures.

This is an appointed, at-will position reporting to the Administrative Supervisor. Continued employment is at the discretion of the Board as a body.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Associate’s degree in Public Administration, Business Administration, or a related field; and two years of increasingly responsible administrative experience preferably in a public agency, governmental body, nonprofit organization, foundation, college, or similar regulated environment. Experience supporting executive-level staff, governing boards, or high-level committees, including preparation of official records, agendas, minutes, and related documentation highly preferred; OR
  • Four years of increasingly responsible administrative experience preferably in a public agency, governmental body, nonprofit organization, foundation, college, or similar regulated environment.
