Flexsys has an immediate opening for an analytical chemist in the Akron corporate headquarters. This position will support our business and innovation platforms. The ideal candidate will have hands-on expertise in multiple analytical techniques. The candidate needs to be an innovative and creative problem solver with strong scientific convictions who is willing to take risks. This role will report to the Analytical team leader.
Job Responsibilities
- Employ the latest analytical technology and sound analytical principles to solve major technical problems
- Make data driven decisions to ensure project success
- Evaluate and develop new laboratory capabilities and lead efforts to implement them
- Collaborate with other scientists and technicians to provide key analytical data for new products and process development
- Utilize multiple analytical techniques for the characterization and performance evaluation of novel organic molecules
- Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot analytical instrumentation
- Review and write test methods and technical reports
Qualifications
- Required Degree: PhD in analytical chemistry, physical chemistry or similar discipline
- 0-5 years of experience post PhD
- Required
- Experience in analysis of organic molecules
- Application of analytical tools in support of projects
- Clear and effective writing and oral communication skills
- Ability to work in a highly collaborative team environment
- Highly desired
- Hands-on experience in chromatography, absorption spectroscopy, and mass spectrometry
- Fundamental understanding of separation science
- Fundamental understanding of the physics of absorption spectroscopy, including vibrational spectroscopy
- Experience in statistics
- Candidate should be motivated to develop into a company expert in analytical chemistry.
