PT Multimedia Video Producer (Media Center)The Multimedia Video Producer(s) will report to the Senior Associate Director and work with the entire Media Center team in assisting with the operations, services, and instructional work of the department. They will utilize their ongoing participation in freelance media making to serve as an experienced mentor for the Emerging Filmmaker Mentorship Program. They will utilize their technical knowledge to assist with equipment inventory and maintenance projects. Additionally, they provide support in consulting with and training students to utilize media tools and technology. They will assist with the maintenance and staffing of the Media Center Production Studio, staff help hours in the Media Center’s Post-Production Lab, and may assist with the execution of Media Center programming, including the teaching of workshops and assisting faculty in the execution of their courses.Job Description:
About Sloate Media Center:
Below are some of the programs and services the Media team provides. Please note that all team members, including Part-time Multimedia Video Producers, collaborate to provide these services - sometimes by taking the lead, and sometimes by supporting others.
Maintain and operate spaces for media production on campus
Our equipment room lends out audio, photo, video equipment and employs a team of undergraduate student workers.
Our bookable Media production studio is outfitted with backdrops, lighting, a single occupancy audio booth, and other production equipment.
Our open use Post production computer lab has Mac Studio computers with Adobe creative suite and DaVinci Resolve studio, as well as a dedicated color grading station.
Collaborate with faculty to support courses with technical workshops on podcasting, video production techniques, media editing, and related topics.
Ideate, develop, and execute student-facing programming
Hands-on workshops where we teach media skills (e.g. Portrait Photography, Lighting, Audio Production)
Film screenings
Talks and panels with media professionals
Document special academic division events on campus through videography & photography services.
Run the Emerging Filmmaker Mentorship Program, which includes -
hands-on workshops for pre-production, production, and post-production.
reviewing applications and selecting mentees.
coordinating and distributing grant funds.
supporting mentees during filmmaking.
showcasing mentees’ finished work.
Collaborate with other centers and departments on initiatives and programming to further media creation/learning on campus.
Essential Duties:
Summary Duties include teaching recurring technical video recording and editing workshops for Barnard film production courses. Recording, editing, and exporting digital material of special media projects, as well as providing supportive training and guidance to student workers as they learn to do the same. Assisting with the safety training of studio patrons, providing help in the post-production computer lab as needed, and assisting in maintaining studio space and equipment room. Providing instructional and mentorship support to Emerging Filmmaker Mentorship Program students. Assisting with summer inventory and operational maintenance projects. Taking on other part-time staff projects as needed, and other misc. clerical duties as assigned.
Skills, Qualifications & Requirements:
Required Qualification Summary:
Ongoing professional work in media production.
Bachelor’s degree in communication, journalism, film production, related field and/or commensurate experience.
Experience with video production & post-production from both creative and technical perspectives.
Working knowledge of Adobe Suite and other media softwares.
Demonstrated experience with teaching and instruction of media techniques.
Highly organized with a strong record of working independently, meeting deadlines, and attention to detail.
Tact, diplomacy, and a supportive attitude towards colleagues, students, faculty, and senior administration.
Working knowledge of the following: Professional Camcorders, SLR & DSLR cameras, Digital Cinema Cameras, wired and wireless microphones, lighting, backdrops, and related equipment.
Preferred Qualification Summary:
Successful Producing experience guiding short films from pre-production through post-production.
Experience with video production in educational, research, or non-profit settings.
Experience with recording events, lectures, and panels.
Experience with maintaining production equipment in an equipment room, rental house, production studio, or on set.
PAY: $33/hr
The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above hiring range represents the College's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
