Overview

The School of Professional Studies is seeking an Academic Advisor to advise students in the Division of Applied Undergraduate Studies (DAUS) on academic programs, policies, and procedures and provide career counseling. Interpret University and school policies and recommend exceptions to policy when appropriate. Serve as advisor to the DAUS student club.



Responsibilities

Required Education:
Bachelor's Degree

Preferred Education:
Master's Degree in Student Personnel Administration or similar degree

Required Experience:
2+ years relevant experience in student advising or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills. Excellent verbal and written skills. Ability to advise and provide solutions to problems. Ability to supervise staff. Proficiency using computer software such as Word, PowerPoint, Excel and social media platforms.

Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Excellent customer service skills. Proficiency and/or familiarity with Peoplesoft software. Knowledge of student develolpment and career development theories.



Qualifications

In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is USD $77,000.00 to USD $77,000.00. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as, market and organizational considerations when extending an offer. This pay range represents base pay only and excludes any additional items such as incentives, bonuses, clinical compensation, or other items.
