About the Role
The Briarwood Community is hiring a Senior Accountant to join our Finance Team. This is a hands-on role for an experienced accounting professional who works well independently, enjoys digging into the details, and takes pride in bringing accounts to a clean, zero-variance reconciliation.

You'll own bank reconciliations, journal entries, payroll-related entries, and general ledger accuracy — while helping support month-end close, audits, and financial reporting for a mission-driven organization. The Briarwood Community has been rated the #1 Continuing Care Retirement Community in Massachusetts by Newsweek for three consecutive years.

What You'll Do

  • Prepare and complete bank reconciliations to zero variance
  • Research and resolve discrepancies and outstanding reconciling items
  • Prepare, organize, and post journal entries and supporting documentation
  • Prepare weekly payroll-related journal entries
  • Maintain general ledger accounts and supporting schedules
  • Perform account reconciliations and analysis
  • Support month-end and year-end close
  • Assist with accruals, adjusting entries, and other GL transactions
  • Maintain fixed asset records and depreciation schedules
  • Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
  • Support external audits and financial reporting requirements
  • Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and efficiency

What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (preferred)
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience
  • Strong background in bank and account reconciliations
  • Experience preparing and posting journal entries
  • Payroll accounting experience preferred
  • Solid understanding of GL accounting, month-end close, and GAAP
  • Strong Excel skills and experience with accounting/ERP software
  • Healthcare, senior living, nonprofit, or multi-entity accounting experience a plus
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable managing multiple priorities independently

Why Join Us

  • Competitive salary: $80,000–$90,000/year, paid weekly
  • Health, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance
  • 401(k) with employer match
  • Paid time off and holidays
  • Meal discounts
  • Employee Assistance Program
  • Free access to our indoor lap pool, fitness center, and sauna
  • Supportive, collaborative work environment with real ownership of your work

Our Mission
