Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and proactive IT Administrator to join our Corporate Support Services team. This role is a blend of systems administration, network security, and hands-on technical support. You will be the primary guardian of our digital and physical IT infrastructure, ensuring that our systems are not only high-performing but also meet rigorous security and compliance standards (NIST, ISO 27001, CMMC).
The ideal candidate is a "security-first" professional who is equally comfortable managing a SharePoint migration as they are troubleshooting a printer or conducting a forensic investigation into a system failure. This is a hybrid remote position based in Rockville, MD. Must work on site 3x a week.
Key Responsibilities
1. Infrastructure & Endpoint Management
- Hardware Lifecycle: Configure, deploy, and manage company laptops and peripherals; maintain accurate inventory tracking from provisioning to secure decommissioning.
- Network & Connectivity: Maintain local and cloud-based network infrastructure (firewalls, switches, VPNs), ensuring redundancy and optimal remote access security.
- Software Administration: Oversee company-wide software installations, patching, and updates to ensure stability and regulatory compliance.
2. Security Operations & Compliance
- Threat Mitigation: Monitor logs and security tools for threats; lead vulnerability management and proactive incident response.
- Framework Alignment: Ensure IT operations meet NIST, ISO 27001, and CMMC standards; maintain detailed security documentation for business proposals and audits.
- Access Control: Enforce MFA, least-privilege principles, and data loss prevention (DLP) strategies.
- Assessments: Conduct regular penetration testing, vulnerability scans, and system hardening.
3. User Support & Training
- Tier 1-3 Support: Act as the escalation point for technical issues, resolving tickets efficiently to minimize downtime.
- Security Culture: Lead cybersecurity awareness training for staff, focusing on phishing prevention and risk management.
- Onboarding/Offboarding: Manage seamless transitions for new and departing employees, including hardware shipping and secure data sanitization.
4. Strategic Planning & Collaboration
- Budgeting: Forecast and manage the IT budget for hardware, software, and telecommunications.
- Policy Development: Align IT security strategy with business objectives and develop formal IT procedures.
- Collaboration Tools: Provide advanced SharePoint management and support secure conferencing equipment in meeting rooms.
5. Facility Support
· Access Control: Manage office access controls, including key fobs, parking garage cards, and building security assignments.
· Printer Support: Maintain office printer functionality through troubleshooting, routine maintenance coordination, and timely issue resolution.
Requirements:- Education: Bachelor’s degree in IT, Cybersecurity, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Networking: Strong experience with firewalls, VPNs, and network security configurations.
- Platforms: Advanced proficiency in SharePoint, Windows/Mac OS environments, and cloud infrastructure.
- Security Tools: Experience with EDR/MDR tools, vulnerability scanners, and log monitoring software.
- Compliance Knowledge: Practical experience implementing NIST or CMMC frameworks.
Additional Skills
- Analytical Thinking: Ability to perform root-cause analysis and forensic investigations.
- Communication: Capable of translating complex technical risks into business-friendly language for leadership.
- Organization: High attention to detail for inventory management and compliance logging.
- Teamwork: Ability to collaborate effectively across technical and non-technical teams, provide responsive support to end users, communicate clearly, share knowledge, solve problems proactively, and recommend process and technology improvements.
