Job Description
The Industrial Warehouse & Equipment Handling Technician is responsible for safely moving, staging, packaging, and shipping heavy industrial equipment within a warehouse and shop environment. This role supports shop technicians by transporting machinery, positioning equipment for repair, organizing parts, and preparing equipment for shipment.
Unlike traditional warehouse roles focused on palletized goods, this position requires handling large industrial machinery and components using forklifts, overhead cranes, and rigging equipment. The role also involves unloading inbound freight, loading outbound shipments, and maintaining a safe and organized workspace.

Equipment Handling & Material Movement
• Safely operate forklifts, overhead cranes, hoists, and rigging equipment to move heavy industrial machinery and components.
• Transport equipment between warehouse storage areas and the repair shop.
• Stage machinery and parts to support shop technicians during repair and refurbishment work.
• Position equipment on stands, workstations, or staging areas as required for service work.
• Handle machinery that may exceed standard palletized freight dimensions and weight.
Shipping & Receiving
• Unload inbound shipments of industrial equipment, parts, and materials.
• Inspect incoming shipments for damage and verify quantities against shipping documents.
• Prepare and load outbound shipments, including machinery and large equipment.
• Properly crate, palletize, band, and secure equipment for safe transport.
• Coordinate with freight carriers and ensure proper documentation for shipments.
Shop Support
• Provide logistical support to industrial machinery technicians during repair and refurbishment activities.
• Move equipment to and from technician workstations as work progresses.
• Assist with organizing parts, tools, and components required for equipment repairs.
• Maintain clean and organized shop and warehouse areas.
Warehouse Organization & Safety
• Maintain an orderly warehouse layout for efficient equipment storage and movement.
• Follow all rigging, lifting, and industrial safety procedures.
• Conduct routine inspections of forklifts, cranes, and lifting equipment.
• Ensure proper storage and labeling of equipment and materials.
• Support continuous improvement of shop workflow and material handling processes.
Competencies
• Experience operating overhead cranes, hoists, or rigging equipment.
• Experience working in machinery repair, manufacturing, or industrial service environments.
• Knowledge of crating, packaging, and preparing industrial equipment for freight shipment.
• OSHA forklift certification or ability to obtain certification.
• Strong safety awareness.
• Mechanical aptitude.
Supervisory responsibilities
None.
Work environment
This role operates in a busy industrial warehouse and repair shop environment where large machinery and equipment are routinely moved and serviced. The position involves working around forklifts, overhead cranes, tools, and industrial machinery.
Physical demands
• Ability to lift, move, and position heavy machinery components with appropriate equipment.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, and work in an active warehouse/shop environment throughout the day.
• Must be able to work around heavy equipment and machinery safely.
• Ability to operate a motor vehicle is required.
Travel required
Must possess a valid motor vehicle operator’s license and maintain to the Company’s sole satisfaction an insurable motor vehicle operating status.
Qualifications
• High school diploma or GED.
• 2+ years of warehouse experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
• Experience operating forklifts and material handling equipment.
• Ability to safely move and handle large, heavy industrial equipment.
• Strong understanding of warehouse safety practices.
