Job Description

Company Overview:

A-Rent Test Equipment is a fast-growing company dedicated to supporting the reliability, safety, and modernization of the electrical grid. We rent a multimillion-dollar fleet of specialized electrical test equipment to customers nationwide, enabling the testing and maintenance of critical infrastructure such as switchgear, transformers, substations, cables, and related electrical systems.

Our customers operate in essential and rapidly growing end markets, including utilities, electrical contractors, data centers, renewable energy, industrial facilities, and grid modernization projects. As demand for reliable electrical infrastructure continues to grow, A-Rent is investing in people, systems, analytics, and technology to scale the business while maintaining our reputation for market-leading customer service.

This is an exciting time to join A-Rent. We are expanding our financial, operational, and data capabilities; building more sophisticated reporting and forecasting tools; evaluating acquisition opportunities; and partnering closely with experienced investors and advisors to support the next stage of growth.

Position Overview:

We are seeking a highly analytical, proactive, and business-oriented FP&A Manager to help drive financial planning, strategic analysis, and decision-making across the organization. This role will serve as a key finance business partner to leadership across sales, operations, fleet management, accounting, and executive leadership.

The FP&A Manager will lead budgeting and forecasting processes, develop financial models and operational insights, improve reporting capabilities, and help scale the company’s financial infrastructure as the business continues to grow. This individual will also play a meaningful role in strategic initiatives, process improvement, analytics, and M&A-related projects.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys building from scratch, solving ambiguous problems, improving processes, and using modern tools — including Power BI, data platforms, and AI-enabled applications — to make finance and the broader organization more effective.

The ideal candidate combines strong financial acumen and analytical capabilities with a hands-on, builder-oriented mindset and the ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Financial Planning, Forecasting & Business Analysis

  • Lead the annual budgeting, quarterly forecasting, long-term planning, and monthly reporting processes.
  • Build and maintain forecast models that support revenue growth, margin improvement, fleet utilization, capital planning, and operational performance.
  • Translate complex financial and operational data into clear, actionable insights that support data-driven decision-making.
  • Partner with cross-functional leaders to evaluate pricing, fleet investment, customer profitability, utilization, and growth opportunities.
  • Develop and maintain models related to customer lifetime value, equipment-level economics, capital deployment, ROI, and contribution margin.
  • Lead monthly financial review discussions with department leaders and executive management.
  • Present financial analysis, KPI trends, and business insights to senior leadership.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives across reporting, forecasting, and analytics processes.

Power BI, Data Analytics & Reporting

  • Serve as a finance super user of A-Rent’s Power BI analytics and data platform.
  • Partner with business leaders to define reporting needs, improve KPI visibility, and enhance management reporting.
  • Scope, prioritize, and help implement new dashboards and reporting tools in partnership with third-party data and analytics consultants.
  • Manage analytics-related projects from business requirement definition through testing, implementation, training, and adoption.

AI, Automation & Process Improvement

  • Learn and apply AI tools, large language models, and automation platforms to create practical solutions for the finance team and broader organization.
  • Identify opportunities to leverage AI models to reduce manual work, streamline recurring processes, and improve the speed and quality of analysis.
  • Help refine and optimize existing AI-enabled tools and workflows to improve adoption, accuracy, usability, and business impact.
  • Build and help scope lightweight tools, workflows, and web applications that improve reporting, analysis, data collection, process management, or cross-functional communication.

M&A, Investor & Strategic Finance Support

  • Play an active role in M&A-related analysis, including both buy-side and sell-side workstreams.
  • Support acquisition evaluation through financial modeling, due diligence support, data room preparation, and integration planning.
  • Work directly with investor groups, advisors, lenders, and private equity sponsors.
  • Gain exposure to the full transaction lifecycle, including opportunity assessment, due diligence, valuation support, financing, closing preparation, and post-close integration.
  • Support strategic initiatives and special projects that help drive company growth and operational scalability.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business, Data Analytics, or related field.
  • 4+ years of experience in FP&A, strategic finance, corporate finance, investment banking, transaction advisory, consulting, or another highly analytical finance role.
  • Strong financial modeling and forecasting experience with the ability to build models from scratch and support strategic decision-making.
  • Experience leading budgeting, forecasting, and management reporting processes.
  • Advanced Excel skills and comfort working with large datasets and financial systems.
  • Experience with Power BI, SQL, NetSuite, data warehouses, or similar analytics/reporting tools preferred.
  • Interest in AI tools, automation, low-code/no-code platforms, scripting, or building internal tools strongly preferred.
  • Strong communication and business partnering skills with the ability to present financial insights to leadership and non-finance stakeholders.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-moving environment.
  • Demonstrated ownership mentality, intellectual curiosity, and proactive problem-solving skills.

What Makes This Role Exciting

  • High-impact finance role: Work directly with senior leadership and influence decisions across pricing, fleet investment, growth strategy, operations, and capital allocation.
  • Modern analytics platform: Become a power user and business owner of Power BI dashboards and reporting tools that are actively shaping how the company manages performance.
  • AI and automation exposure: Help bring practical AI tools and process automation into finance and cross-functional workflows.
  • M&A involvement: Gain direct exposure to acquisitions, due diligence, investor materials, and transaction-related analysis.
  • Private equity and investor exposure: Work with sophisticated investors, advisors, and board members as the company scales.
  • Builder opportunity: Join a growing organization where processes, tools, and reporting capabilities are still being built — and where strong contributors can have an outsized impact.
  • Mission-driven end markets: Support the infrastructure behind grid reliability, electrification, data centers, renewables, and the modernization of the electrical system.

Benefits

  • Competitive salary and bonus opportunity.
  • Comprehensive employer-paid health benefits, including medical, dental, and disability coverage.
  • 401(k) plan with employer matching contributions.
  • Opportunity to join a growing company at an exciting stage of development.
  • Direct exposure to executive leadership, strategic projects, and high-value business decisions.
