OVERVIEW OF ROLE
We’re looking for a commercially minded, AI-curious Financial Accountant who wants to be involved in developing scalable financial processes as we continue our rapid growth trajectory. You will collaborate with both finance and the broader business to modernise and automate workflows, lead process improvement initiatives, and spearhead AI integration across daily finance operations.
ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Financial Reporting & Analysis:
- Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial reporting with relevant accounting standards (AASB/IFRS)
- Deliver accurate reconciliations fully supported
- Contribute to the efficient and timely completion of the month-end and year-end close processes.
General Ledger & Core Accounting
- Maintain the integrity and accuracy of the general ledger.
- Assist with the development and implementation of accounting policies and procedures.
Tax Compliance:
- Assist with preparation of the R&D tax incentive
- Stay up-to-date on relevant tax regulations.
Audit & Risk
- Support external audits and compliance requirements
- Assist with establishing and monitoring internal controls
- Assist with the coordination and resolution of audit queries.
AI & Process Improvement:
- Embed AI directly into day to day finance operations
- Use AI tools to speed up reporting commentary & analysis
- Establish process documentation
- Participate in the implementation of a new ERP system
- Assist with finance transformation projects, system improvements and new initiatives
- Partner with other departments (e.g. Marketing, Sales, Operations) to ensure accurate financial reporting.
QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field.
- CA or CPA qualification (or actively pursuing).
- Minimum of 3-5 years of progressive accounting experience, ideally within a high-growth or start-up environment.
- Strong technical accounting skills (AASB and IFRS)
- Proven experience in managing the month-end close process and preparing financial statements.
- Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel (advanced skills preferred).
- Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
