Job Description
The Assistant Branch Manager supports and oversees daily teller line and branch operations, ensuring exceptional customer service, operational accuracy, and compliance with bank policies. This role supervises and develops Universal Bankers, maintains workflow efficiency, and serves as the primary backup to the Branch Manager or Market Manager. This position coaches colleagues for ongoing development in executing a sales and service culture to grow profitability. The Assistant Branch Manager works collaboratively with all business partners to maximize efficiencies and utilize subject-matter experts. The Assistant Branch Manager leads by example by providing prompt, courteous, and excellent service to customers and colleagues by adhering to the behavior standards expectations and following the sales culture.
Requirements:PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Manages teller line day-to-day operations by:
- Process and oversee daily teller transactions, ensuring accuracy and efficiency
- Provide approvals/overrides within guidelines and expectations for approved transactions
- Open, close, and service deposit accounts while identifying customer needs and providing appropriate referrals
- Creating work schedules to provide proper level of coverage of branch
- Manage vault, cash levels, dual control, and branch opening/closing routines
- Assist with audits, testing, and training as required while seeking opportunities to improve efficiencies
- Ensure compliance with all rules and regulations by strictly adhering to procedures.
- Collaborate closely with the Compliance department to meet and exceed regulatory expectations
Growing Profitability:
- Drive branch growth by acquiring new accounts and cross-selling bank products/services
- Identify opportunities to deepen relationships with new and existing customers by referring across business lines
- Assist in setting and achieving revenue, growth, and profit goals for the branch
- Develop and execute both short- and long-term plans for the teller team to achieve specific branch goals
Leads team by:
- Inspire and prepare colleagues for success by cultivating and executing development plans
- Provide direction and timely and consistent feedback to the team through regular coaching and training
- Collaborate with retail leadership to assess performance and address any issues promptly
- Handle customer concerns with though research, timely follow-through and appropriate resolution
- Assign/distribute workload among team members
- Leverage technology to improve efficiency
- Serve as admin on teller platform
SECONDARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Participate in Business Resumption activities as needed
- Provide feedback and suggested updates to Teller and Banker Handbooks along with timely communication
- Provide and manage coverage at other branch locations as needed
- Serve as admin for gift cards, foreign currency, Teller, Armored Car Services, and others as applicable
- Other duties as assigned

WORKING CONDITIONS
This position is located in an office environment with artificial lighting and controlled heating/air conditioning. The position includes prolonged periods of working on a computer and repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers. The incumbent needs to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
