Working as an Individual Contributor directly alongside our Controller (Associate Director for F&A), you will act as a key guardian of our financial integrity. Type of Contract: Full-Time
Schedule/Hours: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM US Eastern Time (EST), Monday – Friday (Night Shift for PH/Local time).
Job Summary: The General Accounting Specialist II is responsible for maintaining and analyzing critical financial records, preparing reports, and ensuring airtight compliance with company policies and established accounting standards. Working directly with leadership, this role utilizes deep accounting knowledge to execute everyday transaction processing, smoothly resolve escalated balance discrepancies, and completely own complex month-end closing procedures.
What does a day in the life of a General Accounting Specialist II look like?
High-Impact Processing: Own and efficiently process a high volume of accounting transactions with elite accuracy across Accounts Payable (AP), Accounts Receivable (AR), and General Ledger (GL) entries.
Advanced Reconciliations: Follow specific directions on methods and processes of account reconciliations, trouble-shooting and resolving escalated issues as needed.
Month-End Ownership: Step up during high-stakes closing windows to completely own complex account reconciliations and bank statement reconciliations while identifying discrepancies.
Professional Communication: Deliver exceptional internal and external customer service, responding to customer emails and calls in a courteous, professional, and timely manner.
Financial Integrity & Compliance: Ensure strict adherence to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and internal accounting controls.
Documentation & Continuous Learning: Prepare and maintain accurate accounting reports and financial documentation while staying up-to-date on company policies, products, and services by participating in training programs.
Collaborative Support: Maintain a positive, empathetic, and professional attitude toward customers and colleagues at all times, collaborating across departments and performing other duties as assigned.
KPI Excellence: Consistently meet or exceed specific performance targets and financial KPIs to support overall business momentum.
What are the qualifications of a General Accounting Specialist II?
Experience: 3+ years of rock-solid experience in a dedicated general accounting role.
Education: Associate’s degree in Accounting, a related field, or equivalent proven practical experience.
Core Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices, including full-cycle Accounts Payable (AP), Accounts Receivable (AR), and General Ledger (GL).
US GAAP Foundation: Direct, practical experience working with US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (US GAAP) is required.
Systems & Software Expertise: Proven proficiency in QuickBooks and NetSuite. (Experience with other accounting software such as SAP is a plus).
Tools Mastery: Highly proficient across the Microsoft Office Suite (heavy emphasis on intermediate to advanced Excel, Word, and Outlook processing).
Professional Edge: A CPA license is considered a strong plus that will instantly elevate your application.
