Match Charter Public School is a free, high-performing charter public school in Boston. We are a PreK-12 school serving up to 1,250 students. Our mission is to prepare studentsparticularly multilingual learners and those who would be the first in their families to earn a college degreefor success in college and careers in order to achieve economic security and mobility. Students gain acceptance to our schools via an annual blind public lottery open to all Boston residents.

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
Reporting directly to and partnering closely with the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) serves as a trusted thought partner and integral member of the senior leadership team. The CFO provides leadership, direction, development and management of the finances and administration of the School and its affiliated entities. This is an outstanding opportunity for a senior leader to support the Schools mission to prepare students in grades Pre-K through 12 to succeed in college and beyond.
The position is based at Matchs Network Support Office, located on 215 Forest Hills St. in Jamaica Plain. The annual salary is $153,831 and can be higher based on prior relevant experience.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
The CFO will work closely with the CEO and senior leadership team to manage and provide strategic thinking for both short-term and long-term organizational financial goals, objectives, policies and practices. The CFO will continuously analyze existing financial management systems, internal controls, and processes to ensure efficiency, compliance with relevant policies and regulations, and adherence to nonprofit financial management best practices. In addition to serving as a member of the leadership team, the CFO coordinates the activities of the Finance and Audit Committee.
Strategy, Finance & Budget
- Work closely with the leadership team to translate the overall strategic vision into financial goals and plans.
- Lead the accurate and timely preparation, analysis and presentation of monthly and annual financial reports for all relevant stakeholders, including school leaders, the board and school lender.
- Lead oversight of a ~$40 million annual operating budget (estimated FY2027). Direct budget development process, current year projection updates and long-range financial forecasting. Drive fiscal accountability throughout the organization by setting clear expectations around budgeting and spending.
- Oversee and direct accounting activities including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll.
- Direct the annual audit process with external auditors.
- Lead team responsible for government grant application, expense tracking and compliance.
- Constantly seek to improve and optimize internal infrastructure by fine tuning processes and and updating systems.
- Direct, develop and implement procedures and systems necessary to maintain proper records and internal accounting controls and services.
- Evaluate and manage relationships with third party vendors and auditing firms.
Administration
- Oversee benefits and payroll administration and ensure state and legal compliance of all human resources systems and processes for employees and contractors.
- Partner with senior leadership on development and implementation of compensation policies.
- Work closely with the legal team on issues that intersect finance/HR and legal functions, including but not limited to contract development and risk management.
- Work closely with the Chief of Human Resources Officer to troubleshoot HR issues as they arise.
Team Management
- Provide a strong day-to-day leadership presence cultivating the values of the organization; supporting a positive, inclusive and engaged work environment for a diverse and talented team.
- Manage a team of 3 direct reports in areas of accounting, budgeting, grant compliance, financial reporting and human resource administration ensuring their work is high quality and completed in a timely manner.
- Cultivate a team that communicates clear, relevant and timely financial information across the organization, the Board and Finance Committee.
QUALIFICATIONS

- Minimum of 10 years of experience in financial management, accounting and reporting. Experience in non-profit financial management or school setting strongly preferred. Minimum of a BA. CPA, MBA, or related degree.
- Strong manager and team leader. Ability to manage multiple projects and functions and prioritize goals while managing the day to day work.
- A solutions-based problem solver able to analyze complicated data and formulate solutions and priorities. A forward-thinking leader with a keen eye on industry best practices and technological advancements.
- Demonstrated ability to organize, motivate and develop people. Clear ability to relate to peers and direct reports, to collaborate well with others.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely to all relevant stakeholders including the staff, board, leadership team, donors, vendors, lender, and auditors.
- Strong presentation skills, and ability to translate complex financial transactions into understandable terms.
- Very high level of integrity and dependability with the ability to exercise sound judgment and make recommendations and decisions based on accurate and timely analyses.
