We are seeking a Business Systems & Project Controls Analyst to support sales analytics, project controls reporting, operational systems, and AI-enabled workflow improvement for an aboveground storage tank construction and repair business.
This role will report to the Senior Manager of Sales Analytics, Estimating & Project Controls and will help improve the reliability, accuracy, and usefulness of the systems and data used to manage the business. The position is ideal for someone who enjoys solving practical problems with data, reporting tools, automation, and emerging AI technology.
The right candidate does not need to be an expert in tank construction or estimating. However, they should be curious, technically capable, detail-oriented, and comfortable learning complex business processes in an industrial construction environment.
Key ResponsibilitiesProject Controls & Business SystemsSupport internal systems used for crew scheduling, equipment scheduling, progress reporting, consumables ordering, NDE reporting, project documentation, and job closeout processes.
Learn and troubleshoot existing Microsoft Power Apps, Power Automate workflows, SharePoint tools, and Power BI reports.
Help identify and resolve bugs, broken workflows, incorrect calculations, missing data, and reporting inconsistencies.
Validate data connections between Power Apps, SharePoint, Microsoft Dynamics, Salesforce, Excel, and Power BI.
Work with operations, project managers, estimators, field users, and leadership to improve system reliability and reporting accuracy.
Build, maintain, and improve Power BI reports, dashboards, and recurring business reports.
Assist with Power Query, DAX, data modeling, report cleanup, and data quality checks.
Investigate discrepancies between reports and source systems.
Support analysis of Salesforce, bid history, customer data, project data, and financial outcomes.
Assist with reporting related to win rates, bid volume, pricing trends, margin performance, regional performance, deal history, and customer activity.
Help create practical tools and reports that improve visibility, reduce manual work, and support better decision-making.
Assist with the development, testing, and improvement of AI-assisted workflows across estimating, project controls, documentation, reporting, and operations.
Help evaluate practical uses of AI for RFQ review, bid document analysis, scope extraction, bid review preparation, meeting transcript summaries, job closeout books, project documentation, and lessons-learned analysis.
Work with estimators, project managers, operations personnel, and leadership to understand current workflows and identify where AI or automation can reduce manual effort, improve consistency, and reduce missed information.
Support the organization and cleanup of historical bid, estimate, project, and closeout data so it can be used more effectively in AI-assisted workflows.
Help test and validate AI outputs to ensure they are accurate, useful, repeatable, and appropriate for business use.
Assist with documenting AI-enabled workflows, standard prompts, review steps, and quality-control processes.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Experience working with business data, dashboards, reports, or operational systems.
Strong Microsoft Excel skills.
Experience with Power BI, Power Query, SQL, DAX, or similar data/reporting tools.
Ability to investigate data issues and trace information back to source systems.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy.
Ability to learn business processes and translate them into reports, workflows, or system improvements.
Clear communication skills with both technical and non-technical users.
Self-starter who can work through unclear problems and ask good questions.
Experience with Microsoft Power Apps, Power Automate, SharePoint, Microsoft Dynamics, or Salesforce.
Experience in project controls, construction operations, estimating support, scheduling, cost tracking, or field reporting.
Familiarity with industrial construction, oil and gas, terminals, refineries, tank construction, mechanical services, or field service operations.
Exposure to AI tools, Microsoft Copilot, ChatGPT, workflow automation, document extraction, or prompt-based workflows.
Basic understanding of databases, APIs, data flows, or system integrations.
The ideal candidate is curious, resourceful, detail-oriented, and comfortable troubleshooting messy systems and imperfect data. This person should be able to learn how the business works, understand how information flows through multiple systems, and help improve the tools and reports used to manage sales analytics, estimating support, project controls, and operations.
