The Position
Help strengthen the behavioral health workforce by supporting the development and sustainability of psychology internship consortia.
The Western Interstate Commission for Higher Education (WICHE) Behavioral Health Program seeks a doctoral-level behavioral health generalist to provide technical assistance for the development, implementation, and ongoing support of psychology internship consortia—training programs that coordinate internship experiences across multiple participating organizations and sites.
Organizational Responsibility
The position’s primary responsibility is to help consortium partners establish and sustain coordinated, high-quality psychology internship training programs. Working with consortium leaders, training directors, supervisors, and partner organizations, the Technical Assistance Lead will assess readiness, support shared training and administrative structures, assist with accreditation-related activities, and help resolve operational challenges.
The technical assistant lead will also contribute to broader behavioral health consultation, training, evaluation, and workforce development projects. Successful candidates will bring sound judgment, strong organizational and communication skills, and the ability to translate complex requirements into practical guidance for organizations with differing resources and needs.
This is a hybrid position combining onsite work at WICHE’s Boulder, Colorado, office with remote work. The onsite schedule will be established with the supervisor based on program and project needs.
Applicants with an earned doctoral degree in psychology are eligible with or without psychologist licensure. Licensure is not required for this technical assistance role. Direct experience with psychology internship programs is preferred, not required.
Required Education, Skills, and Experience
An earned doctoral degree in psychology. Psychologist licensure is not a condition of employment.
Working knowledge of psychology internship training and APA accreditation standards and processes, with the ability to translate requirements into actionable plans.
Knowledge of public behavioral health systems and the organizational settings in which psychology training occurs.
Demonstrated ability to provide consultation, technical assistance, or training to professional audiences.
Strong facilitation skills, including the ability to help groups reach shared decisions and develop workable solutions.
Project management skills, including planning, budgeting, coordination, and monitoring of deliverables.
Strong analytical, research, and professional writing skills, including the ability to prepare complex reports and practical guidance.
Strong oral communication skills and the ability to establish effective working relationships across organizations.
Ability to navigate differing organizational priorities with sound judgment.
Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines.
Proficiency with standard office, virtual collaboration, and data management tools.
Intermediate proficiency in statistical methods and analytical software used in behavioral health research or evaluation.
Preferred Skills and Experience
Direct experience working in, developing, administering, or supporting a psychology internship program, particularly a multisite training consortium.
Experience preparing accreditation materials or supporting accreditation reviews.
Experience in clinical practice, clinical supervision, or psychology training.
Knowledge of behavioral health financing, public-sector administration, and workforce policy.
Familiarity with public behavioral health systems in the western United States and Pacific territories.
Published professional writing related to behavioral health policy, practice, training, or workforce development.
Advanced skills in statistical analysis, program evaluation, or health analytics.
