Job Description

Description:

About Hope Media Group

Hope Media Group is a multi-brand ministry. Every story we share, every event we host, and every song we play is done to engage people to love Jesus, serve others, and spread Hope. Hope Media Group is the home of KSBJ, WayFM, Worship 24/7, Vida Unida, NGEN radio. Way Loud, Way New, Way Back, Gospel 24/7, God Listens Prayer App and Hope Events. We invite you to apply and become a part of our growing ministry to Love Jesus, Serve Others, and Spread Hope. Our team describes our environment as fun, encouraging, collaborative, engaging, caring, family-oriented, and friendly. We would love for you to join us and be part of what God is doing in our ministry! The Next Digital Product is Hope Media Group's first digital product: a music app built for Christians, offering a generosity-funded alternative to ad-driven and algorithm-driven streaming. Rather than inferring what to play from behavioral data, the Next Digital Product starts by asking how you're doing and curates a path in response. It's built to give back to the people who use it, not extract from them.

Manager of Music & Streaming Content

Job Summary:

Hope Media Group is seeking a Head of Music & Streaming Content to lead the overall music and content strategy for the Next Digital Product. This role owns the sound, content direction, playlist philosophy, programming standards, and listener content experience, working closely with product engineering to make sure the platform reflects the intended vision. It directs contractors who execute playlisting, production, and interactive streaming, and it directs the Director of Digital Audio Streams.

Essential Functions:

Content Strategy and Sound:

  • Own the Next Digital Product's content strategy and sound direction: genre mix, mood and path curation logic, tone.
  • Set and uphold content standards grounded in a Christian worldview, applied to every song on the platform regardless of where it comes from.
  • Own the Next Digital Product's audio identity: imaging, voiceover, and sound design.
  • Shape how content strategy shows up in-product — the check-in flow, path structure, discovery surfaces.

Programming Standards:

  • Set and maintain programming standards. Decide what qualifies for a path, how playlists are built, and how the catalog is curated across moods and life moments.
  • Build the editorial and programming framework future content roles will execute against day to day.
  • Own the content taxonomy: the mood, genre, and activity attributes that drive curation and personalization.
  • Monitor listening data — skips, completions, saves, repeat listening — to refine programming over time.

Team Leadership:

  • Direct contract resources supporting playlisting, production, and interactive streaming, and manage the production budget.
  • Lead and develop the Director of Digital Audio Streams, delegating day-to-day streaming operations while retaining ownership of standards.
  • You serve as the Next Digital Product's primary representative within the Christian music industry.

Demonstrated Faith

  • Committed to a personal relationship with Jesus Christ
  • Grounded spiritually and biblically literate
  • Comfortable praying for co-workers in team meetings, leading spoken prayer, and participating in ministry prayer meetings and Bible studies
  • Live Christian principles defined by the ministry's Statement of Faith & Biblical Beliefs
  • Participate in on-air fundraisers and prays for donors as needed
  • Passion for leveraging the HMG's media platforms for evangelism and discipleship
  • Exhibit a strong moral character
  • Active member of a Bible believing local church
Requirements:

Non-Essential Functions

  • Other duties as requested.

Requirements and Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Music, Communications, Media, or a related field, or at least 10 years of equivalent experience.

Experience:

  • 7+ years in music programming, editorial, or content strategy at a streaming service, radio network, or comparable audio platform.
  • Demonstrated ownership of a playlist or programming philosophy at scale, not just execution of someone else's standards.
  • Experience directing contractors or a small team delivering production work against a budget and deadline.
  • Working knowledge of the Christian/gospel music industry, or a demonstrated ability to build that knowledge fast.
  • Comfort operating without an established playbook.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Direct experience with Christian radio or Christian streaming programming.
  • Experience building or scaling a listening product's editorial function from near-zero.
  • Familiarity with licensing and rights constraints on programming decisions.
  • Heart for Christian ministry
  • Strong moral character
  • Has a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Spiritually grounded and working knowledge of scripture
  • Must be an active member of a Bible believing local church

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • The Director of Digital Audio Streams, and contract resources supporting playlisting, production, and interactive streaming.
