FACILITIES MANAGER


Position Overview


The Facilities Manager is responsible for leading all maintenance and facility upkeep activities to ensure a safe, reliable, compliant, and efficient manufacturing environment that supports the Company's production, quality, and business objectives. This position oversees the maintenance department, facility infrastructure, capital improvement projects, contractor management, preventive maintenance programs, utilities, the tooling department, and facility assets while serving as the on-site administrator of the Company's Environmental, Health & Safety (EH&S) programs under the direction of the corporate EH&S Manager. This position is expected to provide strategic leadership while remaining technically proficient and capable of supporting maintenance activities when business needs require.


Reports To: Director of Manufacturing


Essential Job Functions:

  • Lead daily activities for maintenance technicians, tooling technicians, custodians, and facilities contractors as required.
  • Promote a culture of ownership, accountability, safety, and continuous improvement.
  • Lead the company’s maintenance department including tracking tasks, reducing costs, planning preventative maintenance, and ensuring machine up-time.
  • Develop and manage a preventative/predictive maintenance program governing all facility operations, including HVAC Systems, compressed air systems, building maintenance, plumbing systems, lighting systems, infrastructure, grounds maintenance, support area maintenance, security systems, safety systems, etc.
  • Ensure special processes (tanks, paint, fiberglass, fuel, etc.) operate effectively, ensure tests are completed on time and that processes are under control.
  • Oversee hazardous waste storage area, waste reduction monitoring and ensure regulatory agency compliance, labeling, containments, proper disposal and documentation.
  • Continually improve, evaluate, implement and maintain health, safety and environmental policies and procedures to protect employees and comply with company, state, federal and local regulations.
  • Plan, schedule, coordinate and conduct safety orientation. Identify, further develop and deliver training programs in a manner that raises employee's awareness and enables employees and supervisors to work safely.
  • In conjunction with the corporate EH&S manager, administer plant safety and environmental initiatives and lead continuous improvement efforts in those areas, utilizing effective communication skills (verbal and written). Ensures daily, weekly, monthly and annual inspections and audits are completed as necessary to comply with local, state and federal regulations.
  • Enforce compliance of regulatory requirements (OSHA, EPA, etc.) including company EHS policies and procedures.
  • Maintain relevant EHS logs and documentation.
  • Manage facility workplace incident investigations to include responding to and reporting all incidents) incident investigations, determine root cause, establishing recurrence prevention plans, and follow through. Develop Job Hazard Analysis (JHA).
  • Keep updated of safety and environmental regulation changes that affect the organization.
  • Plan, justify and oversee CAPEX programs for facilities.
  • Manage purchasing activities within authorized spending limits while recommending larger expenditures through established approval processes.

  • Skills and Abilities:

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Problem Solving/Analysis. Provide solutions to safety and health issues in a wide variety of areas. Demonstrate successful leadership and guidance of health, safety management and interaction with all levels of management.
  • Comprehensive understanding of facility management, maintenance activities, environmental, health and safety management practices, principles and procedures.

  • Education and Experience:

  • At least three years’ experience in a Facilities role and/or Environmental, Health and Safety position in a manufacturing environment required.
  • Experience working within a regulated manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrated experience developing and implementing preventive maintenance programs.
  • Experience managing outside contractors and service providers.
  • Experience planning and executing facility improvement or capital projects.
  • Experience managing multiple priorities while supporting production operations.
  • Computer literate including Microsoft Office applications.
  • Bachelor's degree in Facilities Management, Engineering, Industrial Technology, Construction Management, Manufacturing, Business Management, or related field.

  • Preferred Qualifications:

  • At least three years’ experience in a Facilities role and/or Environmental, Health and Safety position in a manufacturing environment required.
  • Experience working within a regulated manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrated experience developing and implementing preventive maintenance programs.
  • OSHA 30 certification.
  • Experience supporting environmental compliance programs.
  • Experience leading facility expansion or renovation projects.
