Job Description

Hourly Rate: $20-$22 an hour commesurate with experience.

It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role. Actual placement within range will be contingent upon a number of factors, including but not limited to the candidate's qualifications, education, experience, internal equity and alignment with market data.

JOB SUMMARY

The Medical Assistant will be responsible for assisting medical and psychiatric personnel in administrative and clinical tasks.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Attends the medication refills fax line and process all requests.

2. Communicates with pharmacies, as directed, to provide and receive information for patients.

3. Verifies insurance coverage information, demographics, and contact information.

4. Responsible for call screening and triaging, scheduling appointments, and reminder calls.

5. Assists in tracking lab & EKG reports and documents results upon receipt. Notify providers when patients are due for screening or testing following DCF guidelines.

6. Obtains pertinent medical records including completion of Release of Information Form, if not completed.

7. Fills out, where permitted, school medication forms, medication consent, DSS-Drug Prior Authorization Request and DCF 465-Psychotropic Medication Consent Forms.

8. Performs vital signs on patients who come in for medication checkups.

9. Communicates with pediatric, psychiatric clinics, Physicians, Psychiatrists, and APRN’s, and other medical psychiatric personnel to obtain and transmit documents and information.

10. Communicates with families in psychiatric treatment when medically necessary.

11. Interpreting services in Spanish or arranging language line availability for the visits as needed.

12. Monitor, track, and schedule psychiatric referrals.

13. Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by management.

Experience and Skills

EDUCATION

• High school Diploma or equivalent required; Certified Medical Assistant required.

EXPERIENCE

• Bilingual Spanish speaking required. Certificate in medical interpreting preferred.

• Cultural competency to serve diverse client population.

• Organized and able to work independently with minimal supervision.

• Flexible and able to multi-task.

• Proficient in Microsoft Suite software. Familiarity with specific applications used by the Village a plus (CareLogic).

• Physically able to perform the essential functions of the position in a standard office environment, with or without reasonable accommodations, including the ability to interact with children and adolescents in a therapeutic environment/situation without risk of injury.
