Planned Giving Associate


Office Location: Hybrid – two days (Tuesday and Wednesday) in Philadelphia HQ’s/ Week. Core Hours: 8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. ESTJob Summary: American Bible Society has historic roots, global reach, and a vision for engaging a new generation of Bible advocates. The Planned Giving Associate plays a vital role in supporting the growth and execution of American Bible Society’s planned giving program. This position partners closely with the Senior Director of Planned Gifts and the broader Development team to support the cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of donors considering legacy and non-cash gifts.


The Associate will help advance long-term sustainability by supporting donor engagement efforts, ensuring accurate documentation and reporting of planned gifts, and executing marketing initiatives that grow awareness of legacy giving opportunities. The ideal candidate is relational, detail-oriented, proactive, and eager to grow in technical knowledge related to charitable gift planning.

Key Responsibilities:
Planned Giving Fundraising Support


  • Provide comprehensive administrative support to the Senior Director and Planned Giving Advisors in the cultivation and solicitation of planned gift prospects.
  • Prepare donor briefing materials, meeting summaries, proposals, gift illustrations, and personalized correspondence to ensure timely and professional follow-up.
  • Serve as the first point of contact for planned giving inquiries (phone, email, web, and mail), conducting initial conversations to understand donor interest and appropriately assign advisors.
  • Track and manage follow-up tasks within the CRM to ensure no donor opportunity is delayed or overlooked.
  • Support internal workflow management by coordinating tasks across the Gift Planning team to maintain responsiveness and accountability.
  • Collaborate across ABS fundraising divisions to ensure planned giving strategies are incorporated into donor collateral and materials, using updated and relevant language.

Planned Giving Marketing Support

  • Support the implementation of the planned giving marketing strategy in collaboration with the Senior Director and Marketing team
  • Coordinate timelines, assets, and internal approvals for print and digital planned giving campaigns.
  • Assist in the execution of email outreach strategies, including scheduling, content coordination, and response tracking.
  • Monitor marketing-generated leads and ensure timely advisor follow-up.
  • Collaborate and educate internal stakeholders on planned giving strategies and marketing insights, using updated and relevant language.
1816 Legacy Society Support

  • Support outreach, recognition, and stewardship efforts for members of the 1816 Legacy Society, ensuring a consistent and meaningful donor experience.
  • Assist in maintaining accurate records of legacy commitments and Society membership.
  • Coordinate stewardship communications, impact updates, and recognition initiatives.
  • Contribute ideas and messaging that clearly articulate both the spiritual significance and long-term ministry impact of legacy giving.
  • Partner with the broader Development team to integrate Legacy Society engagement into overall donor stewardship strategy.
Operations and Reporting

  • Maintain accurate, timely CRM documentation for planned gift inquiries, realized estate gifts, and marketing responses.
  • Support preparation of monthly and quarterly reports on inquiry volume, marketing performance, pipeline activity, and realized gifts.
  • Partner with Finance, Donor Services, and Legal to ensure proper documentation, gift agreements, and estate gift processing.
  • Help manage internal workflows and tracking systems to ensure transparency and clarity across the Gift Planning team.
  • Identify process inefficiencies and recommend practical improvements that strengthen responsiveness and donor experience.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Associate or bachelor's degree in nonprofit management, communications, business, or a related field.
  • Experience: 3–5 years of experience in nonprofit development, donor services, financial services support, or administrative program coordination. Experience supporting fundraising teams or managing donor-facing communications preferred. Familiarity with planned giving concepts strongly preferred; candidates without prior exposure should demonstrate clear aptitude and motivation to build this expertise quickly.
  • Planned Giving Knowledge: Working knowledge of planned giving vehicles (e.g., bequests, charitable gift annuities, charitable remainder trusts) and gifts of non-cash assets (appreciated securities, real estate, closely-held business interests), or demonstrated aptitude and willingness to develop this expertise quickly.
  • Technical/Financial Fluency: Familiarity with the tax and estate planning concepts that intersect with charitable giving, sufficient to support donor conversations and prepare accurate gift illustrations under the guidance of Planned Giving Advisors.
  • Communication: Ability to translate technical or legal charitable-giving concepts into clear, donor-friendly language for proposals, correspondence, and marketing materials.
  • Vendor Coordination: Experience coordinating with external vendors or agencies on donor marketing or fundraising campaigns preferred.
  • Technical Skills: Strong proficiency in Salesforce or similar CRM tool.
