We are seeking a talented, self-driven, collaborative, and highly motivated events leader with a proven track record in B2B event strategy, team leadership, and building scalable events programs from the ground up. You are a strategic operator who has demonstrated experience in what it takes to stand up an events center of excellence. You bring equal parts vision and execution, thrive in a fast-paced environment, and know how to build a team and a program that consistently delivers. Events are a critical growth lever at CBTS/OnX. This role will define how we show up in the market, turning events into a strategic advantage that strengthens the brand, fuels demand and deepens customer relationships.
Role Summary
The Director, Head of Events will own CBTS/OnX’s event strategy—designing, operationalizing, and scaling a high-performing events program that drives brand awareness, pipeline growth, and meaningful client engagement. This role is responsible for standing up and leading our events center of excellence, establishing the standards, structures, and team capabilities that ensure consistent, high-quality execution across all event types.
This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for both strategy and execution, leading a team, shaping the program architecture, and rolling up your sleeves across our most critical events, including industry conferences, partner events, customer forums, and proprietary experiences.
Role Responsibilities
- Own and evolve the annual events strategy in partnership with Growth Marketing, aligned to brand narrative, go-to-market priorities, and growth goals
- Stand up and lead the CBTS/OnX events center of excellence, defining event tiering structures, standardizing tools and processes, and establishing best practices that scale across the team
- Define the roles of events across the full funnel—from brand awareness to pipeline acceleration and customer expansion
- Lead, develop, and grow the events team, including direct reports and event contractors, fostering an inclusive, high-performing team culture
- Bring a business-development mindset to every event – identifying opportunities to maximize the value of our presence beyond the event itself, including coordinating strategic meetings and interactions for business leads in attendance
- Champion cross-functional collaboration across corporate, partner, and regional marketing teams to deliver events that serve shared business goals
- Plan and execute events end-to-end, including promotion, storytelling, logistics, and on-site execution
- Manage event budgets with a rigorous focus on cost-effectiveness, ROI, and investment optimization
- Own operational processes, timelines, vendors, and agencies
- Ensure consistent brand presence and high-quality execution across all events
- Define and track event performance metrics (pipeline impact, ROI, engagement), and build scalable processes for capture, reporting, and optimization
- Use data and insights to continuously refine strategy and improve program performance
What You’ll Bring
- Proven experience building and leading B2B events programs, including standing up or maturing an events function or center of excellence
- Demonstrated people leadership experience—building, managing, and developing event teams
- Strong strategic mindset paired with deep operational rigor and a bias for execution
- Experience managing complex, multi-stakeholder events at scale across multiple event types
- Demonstrated ability to connect events to pipeline and revenue outcomes
- Excellent project management, communication, and stakeholder management skills
- Comfort working in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment with competing priorities
- Willingness to travel to support key events and on-the-ground execution
