Position Highlights:

What You’ll Do:

  • Set up and record periodontal charting per Provider’s instructions.

  • Maintain patient dental records, updating patient medical history and vital signs as needed.

  • Prepare and set up instruments and equipment necessary for the patient treatment performed by the Provider.

  • Provide education and counsel in oral hygiene for patients in the clinic.

  • Assist in implementing and monitoring the patient infection control program for the clinic, including ensuring the integrity of sterile packaging, sterilizing instruments/equipment, and cleaning autoclaves and operatories.

  • Performs clinical responsibilities in alignment with The Joint Commission (TJC), Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), and YVFWC requirements.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Once Certified:

  • Conduct complete patient x-ray procedure including panoramic and cephalometric radiographs and intra oral photographs. Stores the x-rays in the patient’s electronic dental record.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED).

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 60 days of hire.

  • Dental Radiology Certification within 90 days of hire.

  • Infection Control Exam (ICE) taken and passed within 90 days of hire.

  • EFDA certification within 18 months of hire is required.

  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) speaking skills preferred at a level 10.

  • This position is eligible for Bilingual Differential Compensation when an ALTA score of 10 is achieved.

  • Strong level of manual dexterity and coordination.

  • Ability to effectively interact with a variety of patients of all ages, and employees in a professional manner.

  • Within 30 days of hire, have basic knowledge of dental terminology and dental anatomy.

  • Within 30 days of hire, have basic knowledge of infection control techniques.

  • Within 30 days of hire, have basic knowledge of oral health care instructions.

  • Within 60 days of hire, have basic knowledge of dental materials and instruments.

  • Within 60 days of hire, have basic proficiency with a variety of computer programs including an Electronic Dental Record (EDR), Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel.

  • Within 90 days of hire, have the ability to perform four-handed dental assisting including instrument transfer, oral evacuation, cement mixing and spatulation.

  • Must be able to function under working conditions involving blood.
