Sales & Customer Development Manager - Agribusiness

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Sales & Customer Development Manager - Agribusiness based in Australia.

This is a remote sales and customer development opportunity focused on helping agribusiness and food-sector organizations unlock greater value from technology and data.
You’ll manage selected customers and prospects across Australia and New Zealand, driving growth through new business, renewals, adoption, and expansion.
The role combines strategic account management with hands-on prospecting, consultative selling, and customer relationship development.
You’ll work with organizations across the agricultural and food value chain, including input manufacturers, ag retailers, food producers, and grocery businesses.
Your ability to understand customer challenges and connect them with relevant software solutions will directly contribute to recurring revenue and long-term partnerships.
You’ll collaborate with product, marketing, and sales enablement teams, bringing customer insights back into the organization to improve solutions and sales effectiveness.
The position is predominantly home-based, with travel across Australia and occasional travel to New Zealand, industry events, and customer meetings

Accountabilities
  • Present, promote, renew, and sell primarily food safety, quality, and supply chain solutions to existing and prospective customers, with agronomy and other solutions introduced where relevant.
  • Develop and execute structured account plans covering customer segmentation, retention, renewals, adoption, upselling, prospecting, and new business development.
  • Manage assigned customers, prospects, and territories across Australia and New Zealand, prioritizing opportunities based on commercial potential and customer needs.
  • Build trusted, long-term relationships with stakeholders at multiple levels, from influential end users to senior and executive decision-makers.
  • Lead the complete sales and renewal lifecycle, from initial discovery and qualification through solution positioning, objection handling, negotiation, closing, and ongoing account development.
  • Conduct thorough customer and prospect discovery to understand business challenges, competitive positioning, buying criteria, decision processes, and timelines.
  • Develop compelling value propositions and clearly communicate why the proposed solutions are the right fit for each customer.
  • Identify opportunities to increase adoption, retention, recurring revenue, and customer value through relevant solutions and expansion opportunities.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date customer, opportunity, activity, and pipeline information in Salesforce, meeting required CRM and reporting standards.
  • Provide actionable customer and market feedback to Product Management, Marketing, Sales Enablement, and other internal teams to improve products, messaging, and sales resources.
  • Collaborate effectively with local and global colleagues while working independently in a predominantly remote environment.
  • Travel as required for customer meetings, industry events, trade shows, and occasional activities in New Zealand.
Requirements:
  • 3+ years of professional experience in sales, account management, customer development, or business development.
  • Proven ability to develop and execute account strategies that build long-term customer relationships, increase adoption, support renewals, and generate upsell and recurring-revenue opportunities.
  • Demonstrated consultative sales experience, including discovery, qualification, needs analysis, value positioning, objection handling, negotiation, and closing.
  • Strong understanding of Software as a Service (SaaS) and enterprise software environments, with the ability to communicate the value of technology solutions to business stakeholders.
  • Experience selling to both mid-level stakeholders and executive decision-makers, with confidence adapting communication to different audiences.
  • Strong verbal, written, and presentation skills, with the ability to build credibility and communicate complex solutions clearly.
  • Proven ability to establish trusted relationships with customers and prospects while collaborating effectively with internal teams.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple accounts, opportunities, priorities, and sales activities independently.
  • Comfortable working autonomously in a remote environment while remaining an engaged and collaborative member of a local and global team.
  • Proficiency with Salesforce and Google Workspace, or the ability to become proficient quickly.
  • Strong commercial awareness and the ability to connect customer needs with relevant solutions and measurable business outcomes.
  • Experience in agribusiness, agriculture, food production, food safety, supply chain, or related sectors is highly valued.
  • Willingness and ability to travel within Australia as needed, with occasional travel to New Zealand and relevant industry events.
  • A customer-focused, proactive, relationship-oriented approach and genuine interest in helping organizations improve efficiency, profitability, quality, and sustainability.
