About Somersett Owners Association:
Somersett is a 2,391-acre master-planned golf community located in Northwest Reno, surrounded by the Sierra Nevada range and Peavine Peak. The Association provides a range of amenities, recreational facilities, and lifestyle programming designed to enhance the resident experience.
Somersett Owners Association promotes a high-performance, service-driven culture focused on operational excellence, community engagement, and long-term sustainability. The organization manages multiple facilities and sub-associations, including Sierra Canyon, a 55+ sub-association with its own dedicated amenities and clubhouse, Aspen Lodge.
Aspen Lodge is the primary amenity facility serving Sierra Canyon residents and includes indoor and outdoor recreational amenities, fitness spaces, activity rooms, and community gathering areas designed to support an active adult lifestyle.
Job Summary:
The Operations Specialist is responsible for maintaining a safe, clean, and fully functional environment across Aspen Lodge and Sierra Canyon facilities. This role supports daily operations through maintenance, facility oversight, and operational support.
Working under general supervision, the Operations Specialist performs routine, scheduled, and project-based tasks across clubhouse facilities, grounds, and amenities, including pools, courts, courtyards, and common areas. This position plays a key role in ensuring that all facilities are maintained to a high standard and are prepared to support daily use, activities, and events.

Duties/Responsibilities:
- Inspect facilities, equipment, and systems to identify maintenance needs and ensure proper operation
- Perform routine maintenance and general repairs, including basic electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and facility upkeep
- Troubleshoot issues and determine appropriate repairs or escalation when specialized work is required
- Support planning and execution of maintenance projects, ensuring timely and efficient completion
- Perform quality checks on completed work to ensure consistency and standards are met
- Conduct routine maintenance of facilities, grounds, and amenities, including pools, courts, and common areas
- Assist with cleaning and general upkeep to maintain a safe and presentable environment
- Support event and activity setup, including equipment, layout, and infrastructure needs
- Monitor facility conditions and proactively address operational or safety concerns
- Coordinate with staff and vendors to support repairs, maintenance, and operational needs
- Maintain organization of tools, equipment, and maintenance areas
- Order and track supplies and materials needed for maintenance and operations
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Proven experience in a related field.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Knowledge of general maintenance processes and methods.
- Working knowledge of tools, appliances, and common devices.
- Strong manual dexterity and problem-solving skills.
- Good physical condition and strength to perform hands-on tasks.
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to handle stress and remain calm under pressure.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- At least seven (7) years of related experience in the field of facility maintenance.
- Certification and training in the field are preferred.
- Obtain a Certified Pool & Spa Operators (CPO) certification within six months of hire.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of standing, walking, and talking.
- Use their hands to handle, control, or feel objects, tools, or controls.
- Bend or twist their body repeatedly and quickly.
- Repeat the same movements.
- Kneel, stoop, crouch, or crawl for prolonged periods.
- Climb a ladder or 2-3 flights of stairs.
- Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds at once unassisted.
