Dialysis Patient Care Technicians play a key role in providing the highest quality of patient care while the patient is at Union Health.

The Dialysis Patient Care Technicians are responsible for delivering high-quality dialysis care to patients with acute renal failure or other conditions requiring renal placement therapy. This role involves working in a fast-paced environment, collaboration with a multi-disciplinary team, and ensuring the safety and effective administration of dialysis treatments.

Dialysis Patient Care Technician Details

Essential Job Duties:

  • Specialize in providing care to patients with need dialysis treatment in acute or emergency settings.
  • Observes patients and dialysis machines during treatment.
  • Prepares access sites and catheter ports for dialysis.
  • Cleans and maintains dialysis machines and equipment.
  • Administers medication as prescribed by medical professionals.
  • Assist in developing and modifying care plans, prioritizing patient problems, and perform medical tasks.
  • Provide patient education, follow policies, respond to emergencies, and act as a patient advocate while respecting rights and confidentiality.
  • Evaluate interventions, maintain professionalism, and seek assistance when needed.

Qualifications:

•     CCHT certification required.

•     CNA certification by the State of Indiana preferred.

•     Must be certified in healthcare provider BLS upon hire.
