Basic Purpose
Develops communications strategies, tactics, and plans consistent with company strategic direction. Responsible for the execution of strategic and tactical initiatives for Company’s external communications efforts through traditional and digital channels.
Responsibilities
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Performs public relations activities involving industry, business, press, and the public. Develops communication, outreach and media plans for key business units and serves as a primary corporate communications liaison between those business units. Collaborates with internal teams to develop accurate and comprehensive content with the corporate communications team, stakeholders and external marketing consultants.
Assists in the development of public relations strategies for specific business units.
Coordinates non-traditional public outreach programs.
Facilitates company presence of digital media content, providing relevant, timely and consistent messages through the company’s social media platforms, internet and intranet.
Maintains and executes an integrated, consistent, comprehensive communications approach to stakeholder communication and outreach.
Ensures key stakeholders are aware of programs, business objectives and goals through community outreach, presentations and meetings.
Builds awareness of company’s goals by generating targeted community outreach, storytelling and the development of creative PR programs.
Researches and develops new and innovative ways to create a high level of stakeholder engagement.
Supports company media relations programs through consistent messaging to external audiences. Monitors public relations activities involving industry, business, press, and the public for pertinent topics and trends. Implements the company’s overall strategy, policies, and priorities to improve customer satisfaction through media avenues to influence external stakeholder groups and enhance understanding and support of the company. Serves as primary spokesperson.
Develops and maintains a positive rapport with members of the media.
Serves as a liaison for members of the press and outside public relations firms.
Maintains current information about the company for appropriate members of the media.
Serves as a crisis communications liaison for traditional media contacts.
Plans, develops, and promotes messaging that reinforces the company’s brand to existing and future customers as well as industry media.
Ensures all compliance aspects of position are known and followed; understands and complies with all policies, codes and regulations applicable to position and company.
Performs related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Essential Education, Skills, and Environment
Education and Work Experience
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited school in journalism, marketing, communications, public relations, or related field and 5 years of related work experience in a communications environment. experience.
Candidates that do not possess a bachelor’s degree must have a minimum of 9 years of related work experience.
Specialized Knowledge and Skills
Demonstrated knowledge of:
- Principles of effective communication, mass media, advertising, and public relations.
- Creating and implementing media campaigns through a variety of media outlets and communication channels.
Demonstrated skills such as:
- Analytical, interpersonal, decision-making, negotiation, project management, and presentation.
- Articulate and thoughtful written and verbal communication.
- Forward thinking, creative and team player with a leadership mentality that inspires great work across disciplines, and inherently, consumers.
Equipment and Applications
PCs, word processing, spreadsheet and database software.
Work Environment and Physical Demands
General office environment. No special physical demands required. Some overnight travel required.
