This role sits at the intersection of modern software engineering and mission-driven civic healthcare transformation. You will help design and build scalable, cloud-based systems that support national program integrity efforts across Medicare and Medicaid. Working on a modernization initiative, you will contribute to rebuilding a critical platform into a secure, high-performance, and interoperable system used for case management, investigations, and fraud prevention. The environment is highly collaborative, remote-first, and focused on meaningful public health impact. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to deliver robust full-stack solutions that improve usability, data flow, and operational efficiency. This is an opportunity to directly influence systems that strengthen healthcare integrity at a national scale.

Accountabilities:

You will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining full-stack applications that support large-scale healthcare program integrity operations, while contributing to modernization and cloud transformation efforts.

  • Build and maintain scalable full-stack applications using Java/Spring Boot and TypeScript/Angular
  • Contribute to the modernization of legacy systems into cloud-based, high-performance architectures
  • Develop secure, reliable, and testable code with strong unit-test automation practices
  • Integrate backend services, APIs, and relational databases to ensure seamless system functionality
  • Implement and support CI/CD pipelines using tools such as Jenkins
  • Monitor system performance and reliability using observability tools like New Relic, CloudWatch, and Splunk
  • Collaborate with product, engineering, and government stakeholders to translate requirements into technical solutions
  • Participate in architectural discussions and contribute to system design decisions
  • Support database optimization and performance tuning, particularly in PostgreSQL environments
  • Ensure compliance with security, scalability, and federal system requirements
Requirements:

You bring strong full-stack engineering experience with a focus on enterprise-scale systems, cloud technologies, and healthcare or government environments.

  • 8+ years of experience in software engineering or full-stack development
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
  • Strong hands-on experience with Java/Spring Boot and TypeScript/Angular
  • Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines and automated testing frameworks
  • Proficiency with relational databases and data modeling (PostgreSQL preferred)
  • Experience working with observability and monitoring tools (Splunk, CloudWatch, New Relic, etc.)
  • Familiarity with AWS services and cloud-based application development
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work in complex, regulated environments
  • Experience in healthcare technology or large-scale enterprise systems is highly preferred
  • Knowledge of FHIR, AI/ML, or performance tuning is a plus
  • Must meet eligibility requirements for U.S. government clearance (U.S. citizenship or green card, residency history, and Public Trust clearance eligibility)
Benefits:
  • Fully remote-first and remote-only work culture
  • 4 weeks of paid time off plus 10 floating holidays
  • Flexible work schedule supporting work-life balance
  • Comprehensive medical, dental, and company-paid vision coverage
  • 401(k) plan with company safe harbor contribution
  • Health savings account (HSA) options with company contribution
  • Company-paid life insurance, AD&D, and disability coverage
  • Home office setup support, including a MacBook
  • Wellness resources, virtual care, and employee assistance programs
  • Collaborative, mission-driven environment focused on healthcare impact
