About the Role:
The Staff Accountant plays a critical role in maintaining the financial integrity and accuracy of the manufacturing company's accounting records. This position is responsible for preparing and analyzing financial statements, ensuring compliance with accounting principles, and supporting month-end and year-end close processes. The Staff Accountant will manage bank reconciliations, journal entries, and general ledger activities to provide accurate financial data for decision-making. Additionally, this role involves detailed account reconciliations and job costing to support operational efficiency and cost control within the manufacturing environment. Ultimately, the Staff Accountant ensures that all financial transactions are recorded accurately and timely, contributing to the overall financial health and regulatory compliance of the organization.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Proven experience in accounting roles, preferably within the manufacturing industry.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles (GAAP) and financial reporting.
- Proficiency in bank reconciliation, journal entries, and general ledger management.
- Experience with accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
Preferred Qualifications:
- CPA certification or progress towards CPA licensure.
- Experience with job costing and cost accounting in a manufacturing environment.
- Familiarity with ERP systems commonly used in manufacturing.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively collaborate with internal teams and external auditors.
Responsibilities:
- Perform daily bank reconciliations to ensure accuracy of cash balances.
- Prepare and post journal entries related to various accounting transactions.
- Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts, including balance sheet accounts.
- Analyze account activity and investigate discrepancies to ensure accurate financial reporting.
- Support job costing processes by tracking and allocating manufacturing costs appropriately.
- Assist with month-end and year-end closing activities, including account reconciliations and financial statement preparation.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather financial data and support audit requirements.
- Ensure compliance with established accounting principles, company policies, and regulatory standards.
