Job Purpose: The purpose of a Foam Cutter to is accurately and efficiently cut foam materials into specified shapes and sizes for various applications. This role is essential in the production of high-quality upholstered seats, contributing significantly to both the comfort and appearance of the final products.
Key Responsibilities:
- Measure and cut foam to specified dimensions using tools such as electric knives, foam saws, etc.
- Select and prepare foam materials based on project requirements.
- Inspect foam pieces for defects and ensure they meet quality standards.
- Lay out patterns on foam to maximize material usage and minimize waste.
- Gluing sheets of foam together using adhesive to form dual density foam
- Precision in cutting to ensure high-quality results.
- Must be able to use and maintain hand tools such as foam knives, razor knives, etc.
- Must be able to identify different boat model parts.
- Be able to read orders and identify parts that are needed to maintain the production schedule.
- Knowledge of production processes and quality control.
- Inspects all parts so that they are complete and up to quality standards.
- Strong hand eye coordination for handling tools and materials.
- Ability to troubleshoot issues with cutting processes.
- Capability to stand for long periods and perform repetitive tasks.
- High School Diploma or equivalent level of training
- One or more years of experience in general labor
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to work in a non-climate-controlled environment where ambient air temperature can exceed outside air temperature occasionally.
- Must be able to bend at waist and knees and stand for extended periods of time.
- Must be able to climb into and out of the interior of boats.
- Must be able to wear respirator when glueing.
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds when necessary.
- Keep the work area clean and orderly.
- This is a safety-sensitive position.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to weather conditions, a normal office environment or factory environment that is not climate controlled. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. The factory in certain areas maintains a high fiberglass and dust environment.
Personal Protective Equipment might be required in certain areas of the factory including but not limited to safety glasses, respirator, hearing protection, gloves, and protective garments.
Employees in safety-sensitive positions must report to work fit for duty and must remain fit for duty throughout their workday. To be fit for duty, the employee must not be impaired by alcohol, illicit drugs, or medication.
