POSITION TITLE: Program Coordinator
DEPARTMENT: Youth Services
LOCATION(S): Roosevelt Community Center
REPORTS TO: Program Director / Assistant Director
SALARY RANGE: $23/hour, up to 40 hours per week
DATE: Summer 2026
SCHEDULE:
Summer Program Hours: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 11:00 PM; Saturday–Sunday, 3:00 PM – 11:00 PM
School Year Program Hours: Monday–Friday, 2:00 PM – 10:00 PM; Saturday, 10:00 AM – 9:00 PM
Candidates are expected to work 4–8 hour shifts within program hours. Exact schedules will vary based on program needs.
JOB SUMMARYThe Program Coordinator manages and oversees youth programming, including summer camp, evening teen center, and weekend programming at Cornerstone facilities. This role ensures the smooth operation of program activities, supervises staff, and maintains a safe, engaging environment for guests, participants, and staff. The Program Coordinator is also responsible for ensuring compliance with DOH, DYCD, and GSS policies and regulations.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND REQUIREMENTS- High School Diploma or GED required; some college or a degree preferred
- Minimum of 1 year of experience working with middle and high school youth in a supervisory role
- Valid CPR/AED and First Aid certification from a recognized accrediting body preferred
- Familiarity with DYCD Connect preferred
Candidates must successfully complete:
- NYSDOH fingerprinting screening
- NYS clearance review background check
- SEL requirements
- Three (3) professional reference checks
- Physical examination with updated TB test
- Oversee center operations and ensure a safe, positive environment for youth participants across all programming
- Enforce rules and policies, manage and de-escalate conflicts, and respond to emergencies
- Supervise staff, interns, and volunteers, ensuring they are trained, engaged, and performing effectively
- Communicate effectively with youth, families, and stakeholders; build relationships and address concerns
- Maintain accurate records of attendance, activities, and incidents
- Enter data into DYCD Connect and communicate with DYCD program managers and deputies
- Participate in trainings and professional development opportunities
- Coordinate and manage events, including planning, logistics, and execution
- Build and maintain relationships with community partners to expand program opportunities
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of program and shared spaces
- Support community relations efforts and outreach activities
- Assist with planning and execution of community events
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Program Director
