Job Description
Position Summary:
Lift Attendants are responsible for the safe, efficient, and friendly operation of chairlifts and surface lifts. As the front-line team members at the base and summit of lifts, they ensure the safety of all guests loading and unloading, monitor lift operations, and provide excellent customer service. This is an entry-level position with on-the-job training provided.
General Responsibilities:
- Monitor passengers use of chair lifts in assigned areas and respond to unusual occurrences as trained
- Perform work duties in accordance with business policies, procedures, and practices.
- Provide feedback regarding customer concerns, comments, and operational ways to enhance efficiencies.
- Create and participate in a positive and inclusive workplace.
- Have a working knowledge of Mt. Baker Ski Area Mountain policies and procedures, as well as familiarity of ski area facilities and services available.
- Stay informed of pertinent daily information and relaying relevant information to employees and visitors.
- Follow safety guidelines as described in the Accident Prevention Plan and as trained.
- Report safety concerns directly to the department manager, Director of Mountain Operations, and General Manager as trained.
- Actively participate in fostering a positive safety culture through words and actions.
- Perform related duties as assigned.
Preferred Knowledge and Abilities:

- Ability to work as part of a team
Required Skills and Abilities:
- Willingness to learn
- Must be 18 years or older
- Successful completion of lift attendant training by an authorized Mt. Baker Ski Area trainer

Starting Pay Rate:
- Rate begins at $17.13/hour with increases for experience, merit, tenure and future WA State minimum wage adjustments possible.
Potential Bonus:
- Lift Attendants are eligible for a potential bonus which is paid at $1.00 per hour for all hours worked as a lift attendant during the current season.
- Bonus hours are retroactively calculated and any bonus will be issued at the end of season or at the time of layoff for lack of work.
- Eligibility requirements to earn lift attendant bonus:
- Demonstrate dependability
- Complete the season in good employment standing
- Maintain employment through the entire season
- Any potential bonus will be forfeited if you quit or your employment is terminated for reasons other than lack of work.
- Hourly bonus amount may vary depending on reprimands during the season, for infractions of any ski area policies, or other incidents that may alter your good employment standing.

Requirements:Essential Physical Requirements: Working in the mountain environment is physically demanding. You need to be in good health and in good physical condition and have the ability to perform the following:
- Ability to work outside in inclement winter weather
- Bending, twisting, lifting and moving items throughout the day
- Ability to lift and move 30 pounds (or more depending on task)
- Standing and or sitting for long periods
- Climbing and descending stairs and ladders
- Shoveling and moving snow
- Standing and walking on compact snow and ice
- Perform repetitive tasks as necessary
