This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Linux Systems Administrator (Ubuntu / Red Hat) based in India.
This role is an opportunity to take ownership of large-scale Linux infrastructure across production and development environments. You will help ensure the availability, performance, security, and reliability of mission-critical systems. Working closely with DevOps, Cloud, Network, and Software teams, you will contribute to infrastructure modernization and operational excellence. The position combines hands-on system administration with automation, security, monitoring, and troubleshooting. You will play an important role in improving infrastructure processes, strengthening resilience, and minimizing operational risks. - Manage, monitor, maintain, and optimize Ubuntu and Red Hat Enterprise Linux servers across production and staging environments.
- Perform operating system upgrades, kernel updates, patch management, performance tuning, and routine infrastructure maintenance.
- Implement user access controls, security policies, backup and recovery strategies, server hardening, SSH configuration, and SSL certificate management.
- Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, operating system, networking, kernel, service, and system performance issues.
- Build and maintain configuration management and deployment processes using Ansible, Puppet, or similar automation technologies.
- Monitor system health, resource utilization, availability, and performance to maintain reliable infrastructure and meet operational requirements.
- Collaborate with DevOps and Cloud teams on infrastructure provisioning across AWS, Azure, GCP, and on-premises environments.
- Support capacity planning, disaster recovery, incident response, high-availability initiatives, and infrastructure resilience.
- Work with virtualization and containerization technologies such as VMware, KVM, and Docker.
- Maintain system documentation, standard operating procedures, audit reports, and operational knowledge bases.
- Support CI/CD environments and version-controlled infrastructure using tools such as Git.
- Coordinate with global and cross-functional teams to resolve incidents, maintain SLAs, and continuously improve infrastructure operations.
- 8+ years of hands-on experience in Linux systems administration, with strong expertise in both Ubuntu and Red Hat Enterprise Linux environments.
- Strong Bash scripting and automation capabilities, with experience using Ansible, Terraform, Shell, or basic Python.
- Solid knowledge of Linux networking fundamentals, including DNS, DHCP, NFS, SSH, firewalls, and related services.
- Experience with monitoring and observability tools such as Nagios, Zabbix, or Prometheus.
- Practical experience with virtualization and containerization technologies, including VMware, KVM, and Docker.
- Strong troubleshooting skills covering system logs, kernel issues, service failures, resource constraints, and infrastructure incidents.
- Familiarity with Git and CI/CD pipeline environments.
- Exposure to cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure is an advantage.
- Experience with high-availability clusters, load balancing, RAID management, or enterprise-scale infrastructure is preferred.
- RHCSA or RHCE certification is an advantage.
- Strong documentation, communication, and coordination skills, with the ability to support distributed teams.
- A proactive, detail-oriented approach with strong ownership, accountability, and a focus on preventing recurring infrastructure issues.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure, prioritize critical incidents, and maintain service-level commitments.
