The Hospice Assistant position is open in our Apple Valley location. This is a Full-time position during our day shift from 7:30am-4:30pm.
Requirements of the Hospice Assistant:
· Requires a high school diploma or equivalent.
· Requires two years office experience.
· Healthcare related experience and knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
· Demonstrated advanced computer and data entry skills required.
· Requires strong verbal and written communication skills.
Hospice Assistant Duties Include:
· Performs routine receptionist duties and greets Agency visitors appropriately.
· Answers incoming phone calls from patients, clinicians and outside agencies appropriately, in a courteous and professional manner and transmits messages to appropriate staff members.
· Answers inquiries and provides clinical computer support for all field staff and management team.
· Performs initial clerical training to the computer system laptop users and informs the clinical systems manager of any potential problems.
· Update demographic data in the computer system as needed.
· Dates incoming orders. Distributes to the correct department.
· Faxes/mails initial and supplemental physician orders, and performs data entry of the returned orders in the physician orders tracking system.
· Responsible for maintaining the patients’ clinical record by performing the following duties:
a. Understand the medical record and the order forms are to be filed to ensure accuracy of filing.
b. File/Scan documents into the clinical record.
· Responsible for maintaining daily supply requests by performing the following duties:
a. Manages supply room keys and assigns as required.
b. Maintains supply inventory.
c. Orders supplies utilizing agency standards
d. Submits supply requests for pricing.
e. Maintains supply boxes for nurses and home health aides.
f. Maintains refrigerator used to store PPD serum.
g. Maintains an organized department and ensures rules for
