Job Description

Senior Manager, Product Design - Product Platform

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Manager, Product Design - Product Platform based in Canada.

This is a senior design leadership role focused on shaping the shared product platform that connects multiple product experiences into one coherent system.
You will lead a team of product designers while remaining hands-on with high-impact, complex, and ambiguous design challenges.
The role combines strong product craft with systems thinking, strategic design leadership, and close partnership with Product and Engineering.
You will influence how customers navigate products, manage access and data, move through workflows, and interact with shared capabilities such as reporting, AI, and design systems.
A key part of the role is creating consistency across interconnected product areas while enabling teams to move faster through reusable patterns and thoughtful design decisions.
You will also help evolve a shared design system and champion AI-native product thinking and AI-assisted design practices.
This opportunity is ideal for an experienced design leader who enjoys developing people, influencing across organizational boundaries, and setting a high bar for enterprise product experiences.

Accountabilities
  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of product designers, including senior individual contributors, while helping team members expand their scope, judgment, and leadership capabilities.
  • Define the product design strategy and quality standards for shared platform experiences in close partnership with Product and Engineering leadership.
  • Operate as a player-coach by personally tackling high-leverage, technically complex, or ambiguous design challenges while empowering designers to own their domains.
  • Establish and maintain a high bar for interaction and visual design across complex, systems-oriented product experiences.
  • Apply systems thinking to platform decisions, identifying cross-product dependencies, opportunities for shared patterns, and ways to create a more cohesive customer experience.
  • Represent Design in roadmap planning, prioritization, product strategy, and architectural discussions.
  • Build alignment and drive decisions across teams through influence, collaboration, and strong communication rather than direct authority.
  • Use customer research, product data, and other customer signals to inform platform strategy and validate design decisions.
  • Drive the adoption, consistency, and continued evolution of the shared design system across product teams.
  • Champion AI-native product thinking and the effective use of AI-assisted design practices across the design organization.
  • Partner closely with Product and Engineering leaders to translate technical constraints, architecture considerations, and data models into effective product decisions.
  • Help ensure shared platform patterns improve product consistency, accelerate delivery, and create a seamless experience across interconnected products and workflows.
  • Contribute directly to high-quality design work and help establish the overall craft bar for the design organization.
Requirements
  • 8+ years of professional product design experience, including work on complex, systems-level, platform, infrastructure-adjacent, or enterprise products.
  • 3+ years of experience managing product designers, including senior-level individual contributors, with a demonstrated ability to develop talent and expand team capabilities.
  • A strong portfolio demonstrating excellent product craft, systems thinking, and the ability to simplify technically complex experiences.
  • Strong visual and interaction design judgment, with experience establishing and maintaining quality standards across a design team.
  • Demonstrated experience setting design strategy across interconnected product areas and driving cohesive experiences across multiple teams.
  • Experience building, evolving, governing, or scaling a design system.
  • Strong cross-functional leadership skills and a proven ability to influence Product and Engineering decisions at a strategic level.
  • Technical fluency that enables meaningful collaboration with Engineering around architecture, data models, platform constraints, and technical trade-offs.
  • Strong understanding of how AI is transforming both digital product experiences and modern design practices.
  • Experience designing complex B2B SaaS or enterprise software products is strongly preferred.
  • Excellent communication, facilitation, collaboration, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to operate effectively in ambiguous environments, make sound design decisions, and create alignment across teams with distributed ownership.
  • Strong coaching and mentoring capabilities, with a genuine interest in helping designers take on increasingly complex problems and responsibilities.
Benefits
  • Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage, with 100% coverage for employees and approximately 75% coverage for dependents.
  • Flexible vacation time designed to support sustainable work and personal well-being.
  • Quarterly mental health days to provide additional opportunities to recharge.
  • Annual stipends supporting professional development and caregiving needs.
  • Work anniversary bonuses that increase with tenure and recognize continued contributions.
  • 401(k) retirement savings plan for U.S.-based employees.
  • Premium Apple hardware and tools to support high-quality work.
  • Employee Resource Groups and an inclusive community focused on supporting diverse talent and advancing DEI goals.
  • Opportunity to lead design strategy for foundational product experiences with broad cross-product impact.
  • Significant opportunities for professional growth through people leadership, strategic influence, and hands-on product design.
  • Collaborative partnership with Product and Engineering leadership in a systems-oriented environment.
