This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Crowd Artist based in Canada.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Crowd Artist to help bring large-scale film and television environments to life.
You will create dynamic, believable crowds that add scale, energy, and realism to complex scenes.
Working within a small and highly collaborative production team, you will combine artistic judgment with technical simulation expertise.
The role involves setting up crowd assets, creating simulations, troubleshooting workflows, and delivering production-ready results.
You will collaborate closely with FX, Look Development, Lighting, Animation, and CG leadership to ensure seamless integration.
The position offers the chance to contribute to a major Marvel Studios streaming production while working in a supportive, creative environment.
This is a fully remote opportunity across Canada, with the option to work from a Vancouver studio.

Accountabilities:
  • Crowd simulation: Populate environments with characters and assets using crowd simulation techniques to create vibrant, believable scenes at scale.
  • Asset setup: Prepare and configure digital crowd assets and develop Atoms simulations for more complex character behaviors and shot requirements.
  • Troubleshooting: Identify and resolve simulation, setup, and workflow issues while testing new approaches to maintain production efficiency and quality.
  • Creative integration: Work closely with FX, Look Development, Lighting, Animation, and CG Supervisors to ensure crowd elements align with the visual direction of each sequence.
  • Cross-functional collaboration: Communicate proactively with other departments regarding creative solutions, workflow improvements, technical requirements, and production handoffs.
  • Production delivery: Manage assigned tasks and deadlines effectively, provide regular progress updates, and consistently deliver high-quality work within production schedules.
  • Workflow improvement: Contribute ideas and practical solutions that improve crowd creation, simulation, and integration workflows across the production.
Requirements:
  • Professional experience: 2+ years of experience working on feature films, episodic television, or animated features, with a strong focus on crowd work.
  • Crowd simulation expertise: Hands-on experience creating digital crowd assets and running complex simulations using Atoms.
  • Artistic and technical ability: Strong understanding of crowd movement and behavior, combined with a strong artistic eye and the ability to balance visual quality with technical requirements.
  • Problem-solving: Ability to investigate technical challenges, experiment with workflows, and develop practical solutions independently.
  • Collaboration: Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work effectively across multiple CG and production departments.
  • Production awareness: Strong time-management skills and the ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and communicate proactively about progress or challenges.
  • Work authorization: Must be legally eligible to work in Canada.
  • Linux: Familiarity with Linux-based operating systems is an asset.
  • Crowd workflows: Experience with background crowd simulation methods and production workflows is an asset.
  • Production tracking: Working knowledge of Flow Production Tracking, formerly ShotGrid, is an asset.
  • Additional software: Experience with other crowd tools such as Houdini or Golaem is considered an advantage.
  • Portfolio: A professional portfolio or demo reel demonstrating relevant crowd and simulation work is expected.
  • Availability: Ability to start within the required production window of late October to mid-November 2026.
Benefits:
  • Competitive compensation: CAD $83,000–$92,000 annually, depending on experience and level.
  • Remote flexibility: Fully remote position available anywhere in Canada.
  • Vancouver option: Access to a Vancouver studio for those who prefer working in person.
  • Major production exposure: Opportunity to contribute to a large-scale Marvel Studios streaming series.
  • Healthcare coverage: Extended health, dental, and vision benefits.
  • Collaborative culture: Supportive and connected working environment that values creativity, communication, and teamwork.
  • Inclusive workplace: Commitment to diversity, inclusion, accessibility, and creating an environment where employees can thrive.
  • Location priority: Priority may be given to candidates residing in British Columbia, as well as Canadian citizens and permanent residents.
